    Turbocharger coolant hose

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,how are you...

My driver side turbocharger coolant hose is leaking and I need to change it,question I have is how the hell do I get to the flange bolt? I've tried every angle and every tool possible! I heard someone say that the motor needs to drop but I have no clue? Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I need to do to get this this thing off?

    Thanks in advance?

The supply or the return? I don’t know what you mean by flange-bolt. Sounds to me like you’re mixing up the coolant line with the oil return at the bottom of the pan. That’s the only line that utilizes a flange.

Unless he means banjo bolt. Any line attached to the turbo other then the oil return line you pretty much have to pull the motor. If you want to get back yard mechanic you could cut a hole in the inner fender well on the driver side. You can reach the coolant return line that way, but you cutting a hole Into your car.

It’s the return hose and it’s definitely a coolant hose cause car was pissing coolant from that hose....one end is a rubber hose and the other end is a metal tube(line) that has a flange bolt...I followed the hose and it’s on top of I believe the driver side turbo? It’s under the heat heat shield. If I’m right?

If the hose in question is this one :

You have to remove the engine mount bracket to get to the clamp that holds it on. It doesn't require a motor pull to remove that bracket, but it's not a fun job nonetheless.

A motor pull isn't "required" but getting at those banjo bolts (which is what you're calling a flange bolt) will be a nightmare. You'll need to either lower the subframe to get some room above the turbos, or unbolt the motor and trans mounts along with lots of other stuff, and pull the motor forward a few inches.

And once you have room, the real fun will begin. Getting all the lines removed off our turbos requires that you cut and grind a few wrenches, both 17mm and 19mm, open ended and box ends.

    Good luck!

I figured this was going to be a nightmare when I tried to get at the banjo bolt...for some reason I was calling it a flange bolt lol
They make this insanely impossible to get at,I should have just went to tech school for these cars instead of joining the union lol

Thanks for your help man, appreciate it.

Man this sounds like a really shitty situation. Worse part is it's the inside hose.

    Love the positive outlook👍🏻lol
I wish it were that easy for me but it's still a learning process in the motor aspect of these cars.
