Yeah, I just saw this myself. The article I read said that the coolant pumps on MY13-17 A-5s might be a possible fire hazard. The eventual recall will probably also cover S4s, Allroads, and Q5s of the same years, as well as A6s from MY12-15. The article I read is: https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news...cid=spartandhp . Don't know if S and RS models are gonna be included...we'll see how it all plays out.

Weird that audi dealer didnt know about this... plus other thing.. i think they also have to update/reset ECU after changing the pump.... i wonder if that will erase any ecu flash or remap..

This is interesting.....I questioned the BS software update that they were doing last year to solve the very same problem. Back then I thought the better fix would be to replace the coolant pump entirely and now it appears that's exactly what they're going to do. I never brought my car in for the software update and now I'm glad that I didn't.

I was surprised to see this only now. I took my car in for an oil change about 2 months ago and the dealer said I had a recall and they replaced the pump.

Yeah, but they replaced it with the same pump. The newly designed pump isn't available yet from what I've read and there talking like we won't see it until the fall. They did mentioned that there would be a campaign to replace questionable pumps with a new version of the same pump just as a stop-gap measure.

Can we move this to the B8 subforum? This doesn't affect the B9 cars.
