    Question Unitronic 2016 S3 Stage 1+ Questions

I have about 13K miles on my 2016 S3 and would like to pull the trigger on a Stage 1+. My concern is engine/transmission damage caused by the tune and not being covered under warranty.

    A couple of questions:

    1) Is it necessary to get the DSG tune if go with Stage 1+ ECU? I am not looking to race the car but just have more power when I drive it ( I have a 100hp car for that). The turbo lag really and lack of lowend power really sucks on a stock S3.
    2) Anyone have any feedback on the Halex clutches wearing premature wear and or failing transmissions with a Stage 1+ ECU?
    3) Anyone have any engine issues after flashing with Stage 1+?
    4) How long before you should swap on plugs with the tune?
    5) I know people have been flashing their cars back to stock before taking them to the dealer for service to avoid a TD1. I've read people doing this with success but that were posts from over a year ago. Can anyone comment on if dealer softwareAudi has gotten better at detecting tunes being loaded and unloaded?
    6) Any other mods necessary with Stage 1+ ECU tune?

    1. no
    2. nothing objective
    3. keep them fresh - Iridiums last longer, but that tune doesn't do much if anything to plug life. Probably can just follow normal change out schedule
    4. I find it hard to believe that TD1 EVER gets cleared and sincerely doubt flashing back to stock changes that - probably just dealer laziness; after all, they want the warranty work
    5. no other mods necessary; I like a Drop in K&N filter at this level though.

I run a JB4, which I can remove in 20 minutes, and reinstall in 20 minutes for dealer visits. Anything requiring a drive train component warranty claim with a hefty price tag is liable to be checked for TD1 by VW corporate (not the dealer). I don't want to risk it with the known Haldex failures. It's usually just the pump, which won't trigger a scan for TD1 - but in the case that it could be an entire diff replacement, It's possible VW will want to check the ECU.
