The manufacturer has agreed to let me return the piece for a full refund, but I don't mind taking a little bit of an L on it if I can pass the piece on to someone else in the community, especially since the Griffin guys were nice enough to give me a modest discount on the piece since I work for Audi. Make me a reasonable offer before my catless piece arrives! Otherwise I'll send it back and take my refund.

The part retails for $1879 new: http://www.g-werke.com/categories/ma...-2018/exhaust/
What kind of power increase did this net?

my times in the quarter didn't seem to be affected by the install, which was disappointing. basically what I gained was sound and no CEL. perhaps the gains would be greater with a proper ECU tune on the car, but with a piggyback, gains were negligible.

    located in DFW, Texas.

I don't know for certain, so I don't want to make you any promises. But it *does* bolt right up to the OEM catback, so if the AWE catback system bolts to the OEM downpipe, you will be fine. Contact AWE and ask if their catback bolts to the OEM downpipe and your question will be answered.

I just looked on AWE's website and they guarantee their touring exhaust is a "direct bolt-on system, factory-like install simplicity."

again, if it's a cat-back only system (not a full turbo back), it MUST bolt up to the OEM downpipe, and since this downpipe bolts up to the OEM cat-back, that necessarily means the flanges where the DP meets the cat-back are the same. so you're good to go.

Any bolt on parts, no matter what they are, will yield little gain without tuning the car. Still need to dial in boost/fuel/timing to add power. The stock Ecu tables will only adjust so much without help.
It’s an expensive part IMO but don’t be disappointed, things will change a lot when the car is more tunable.

Amen to that, Nez. I hate to call a company liars, but Griffin Motorwerke claims their S4 ran a 3.5 sec 0-60 using their turbo back system (which I assume was catless). They have video of a 3.53 second run, so the car appears to have done it--but the issue I have is that they claim the car was otherwise stock and they explicitly said stock software. I find this hard to believe. With the added power of the DTUK box AND their high-flow cat, I'm not running that fast. I'd be lucky to be a 3.9 (I've never timed it). To be fair to them, I still have the stock catback but if their claim is that THAT is the difference between my car's times and theirs, they're definitely full of shit.

I took their claims with a grain of salt when I bought the part, but I was expecting SOME improvement in my quarter time, and, far as I can tell, I didn't get any. Aaron at DT Power is telling me I may as well just keep the piece bc any gains from the catless DP would probably be offset by the ramifications of the CEL, so now I'm not sure what I want to do.

Hey maybe they used a road that was slightly downhill? Lol.
For real we don’t know what they did to achieve the number in that video. But like I learned years and years ago with tuning cars, numbers can be manipulated on the street or dyno, so always use the stock numbers as a baseline.
They may have not lied... but maybe bone stock on the same road they got a 3.6 0-60 🤷🏻*♂️

If a company tells me that they can shave over a half second off my 60 with under $2k and no actual tuning, I’d simply say they found the holy grail!

LOL well you're a much more saintly gentleman than I. I'd call them full of crap; misleading at best, straight up lying at worst. I thought I was being pretty magnanimous by even offering to buy their catless DP after sending the high-flow unit back, and (after blaming the lack of gains on the DTUK box...?????), they didn't even reply. interesting market strategy with their customer service...

again, to be fair, the car sounds awesome now and has not thrown a CEL. this was expected and I'm happy with it. but I told the guys on the phone when I ordered the part that performance--not sound--was my primary objective. I was willing to trade away SOME gains in order not to have a CEL, but no gains??? yeah I'm not cool with that.

No. Revving it in neutral doesn't give you the same sound effects as romping on it under load, and I'm not rigging up cameras/mics to the outside of the car. but I assure you it sounds great. lots of burble/crackle/pop when you let off the gas.
