2018 A6 3k Miles using oil

Hey guys, I checked my oil today at 3,000 Miles; and, the car has already used 1/3 of the acceptable range (I am assuming = 1/3 liter).

I’ve had a few BMWs and Honda’s in the household and none of them used any oil until more than 100k on the odometer, and then you could see it leaking....

Does the 3.0 motor in these cars really use oil normally or do I have an issue on my hands?

Hey, sometimes it’s normal, best is to check your owners manual for acceptable oil consumption, in some cases I’ve seen it saying up a quart/1k (! Yeah :-)) is normal.

Oil consumption during engine break in is a little accelerated as the rings, pistons and valve train run in...it will decrease by the next 3,000 miles...

UPDATE: Changed oil w/ 5000 on the clock and have driven another 2500 miles since then. Total mileage =7500. Since the oil change, the car has use maybe 1/8 of the acceptable range (1/8 liter?). At this rate - assuming 5k changes - I won't need to add oil between oil changes as I won't likely use more than 1/4 to 1/2 of the acceptable range.
