    Front brake caliper locked up

Just replaced the hub and bearing today and put everything back together. Now the brake is locked up on that side. I used a C clamp to compress the piston and opened the reservoir to get the caliper back on over the rotor. I got in the car, started it and pushed the pedal down a few times with reservoir closed. The pedal was soft but now is rock hard. I tried opening the reservoir but it made now difference. I’m sure I made a mistake somewhere. Any ideas? I’m gonna take the caliper back off tomorrow, possibly bleed it on that side.

I would if I could drive the car. The brake caliper piston will not release at all. I cannot drive the car at all.

See if you twisted the brake line, of you flipped the caliper over you may have pinched the line, much like a garden hose.

if there is corrosion inside the piston, it could be binding in the bore now.

I say remove the caliper and rebuild. It may be easier to replace however. A remanufactured caliper is ~$100.

Also, did you clean off the slide pins and apply new UREA lube?

DO NOT use brake pad grease on slide pins.

And like Charles said piston might be corroded. Rebuilding is easy though

Thanks for suggestions guys. It turned out to be a dumb mistake on my part. I forgot to put the wheel spacer on and the caliper did not clear the wheel. Luckily there was not too much damage done.
