Has anyone installed rear heated seats into their vehicle specifically an S4 avant. If so what components were needed and how difficult was it to do?

Pretty easy, did it at my b6, you need a wire harness from kufatec.de , a control pannel below the ashtray rear.
Whire harness trough the middle of the car towards the a/c unit.

This is correct, done it on my avant.

Rear seats with heating elements, kufatec harness, and the control unit from a factory rear-heated-seat car.

Pretty much no. In one of my b6 Avants (1.8t) I can’t believe we took 4 (large) guys and gear from Seattle to Whistler. 5 hour trip.

If you can get some coolant running trough the roll-bar you don't need the heated seats anymore .
