Just sold my OEM 19s, let’s wheel shop!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,
I’m budgeting $2k for summer wheels. My only requirements are 18”/19”, no fatties and they need to fit over my 4 pot Stoptech brakes. I’m open to any color, my TT is white with black optic bits.
I’ll be wrapping them with Michelins.
If it were you, what would you get? Post pics, talk specs and tell me why. Also, I’m open to your for sale set ups.
Thanks for the ideas, I have until early July to get this done.
    Cheers. Rick in NJ

Summer will be these wheels, coming this week.

    Rohana RC10 19x9.5 Rear, Front 19x8.5 Same tires ET30

These wheels are gonna stick out nicely and have that deep concave

Two things I really hate, in no particular order: poke and concave. But thank you.

Is 245/40 too wide for an 8.5” wide rim?

I had Rotiform KPS’s 19x8.5 on my TTS, wheels didn’t clear front calipers unless I had 15mm spacers.

Wrapped them in 245/40 PS4S, while it handled spirited driving well, I bottomed out the suspension a few times and it hit the quarter panel hard enough to bend them a little.

    So don’t do that

I’m going to splurge and get HRE’s or Vorsteiners 19x9’s. Test fitting some hopefully tomorrow

Also, the sidewall on the fronts got shaved with those wheels.

Just sold my OEM 19s, let’s wheel shop!

    Those wheels were ET45.

But... in the past 24 hours, I bought and mounted HRE FF04’s 19x9 ET 35, with Michelin PS4S 235/35’s.

Fits great, no spacers, plenty of space between spoke and calipers, and fits almost flush.

Just for clarity, the rotiforms were 8.5” wide, 45et with a 15 mm spacer on all 4 corners? Essentially a 8.5” with 30et? Sorry for the repeat.

    I couldn’t give a dependable answer for the 18x9’s.

After the previous few wheel purchase mistakes, my primary focus was on clearing the calipers without spacers. From there, I could adjust tire size and add spacers for a perfect flush look.

The OEM diameter is 26” in 255 tires, so that’d be a good spec to base your decisions on.

If you don’t mind using spacers, the APR wheels look great. Last I heard is they were working on other sizes, if that’s still the case, I’d wait for 19x9’s.

Not a fan of that style, and I wouldn't go down to an 8.5" wheel if handling matters to you and you want to run 255 tires.

Ive been on Tirerack for an hour. Would 225/40/19 Firestone indys freak you guys out? I’m a former Miata disciple so I know not to out tire the rim width. Spacers could fill out the wheel wells and I’ve been walking around my car for the past few days contemplating “skinny” tires. My car’s so low the tires are hidden. I might get away with it. Indy 225/40/19s weigh 22 lbs. What I lose in width grip I’d make up with lightness. #postfueledwithtequila

I’m in a similar situation as you. I don’t want to go 8.5”. Nuespeed has 2 good options at 19x9 40et without spacers and lightweight. If the APR were the same specs, I’d buy those since I dig the style. I’m stalling slightly to see what changes since I don’t need to make a purchase just yet. If not Nuespeed, some BC Forged are on my radar, but I don’t want to revert to the anxiety I get driving with custom forged (not easily replaceable, cringing around road hazards, and thievery).

I wouldn’t sacrifice handling when you can get affordable 9” rims from Nuespeed without adding spacers.

I’d go 18’s non-winter setup if I tracked the car more. Much more tire options, but I’m still leaning towards a 19x9 option.

For the price point, I’ve really been happy with all my HRE FlowForm wheels. I bought some FF01 in liquid metal...I planned on getting them powder coated but after putting them on the car I think the silver really works well on my white car.
