Nobody will know for sure until June/July when the ordering guides come out.

Also for the rest of the world (OP looks to be in the Emirates) I imagine 2019 will go ahead as normal.

Sad if true. Was hoping for Power Seats and a Sunroof delete option.

Audi has been less than enthused about the restrictions and the approval process by the EPA. The V10 and RS5 also have gone through similar issues with EPA certification

There is no way they brought the RS3 to the US for one year. And no, the two hundred and something 2017’s don’t make it two years.

Both dealers I’ve spoken with confirmed through their regional reps that a 2019 is coming.

Especially considering this RS3 was designed for the American market...

The 2019 will probably just have a couple of new colors and different wheels. I’m going to be pissed if they start offering Nogaro as part of the standard paint options.

Highly doubtful the RS3 will disappear next year. Audi Sport is a whole new brand for the marquee and they are increasing RS models, not reducing them. Considering they charge near $70K for what's essentially a hot rod version of an $35K A3, it's highly lucrative, let alone good for brand. Remember when all we had was a C5 RS6 way back when? The 5cyl engine is still slated for the RS3, TTRS, RSQ3 and upcoming RSQ4 according to a recent blurb in the Panorama mag. Most significant change seems to be the adoption of 48V system for potential use of electric enhanced turbocharger, good for 420hp. Not known if the mild-hybrid will appear on the RS models, but that's another common theme for 2019+ Audi's as well.

Pure speculation here, but if above is true then performance should be about same as current model with perhaps slight increase in efficiency. Will probably weigh slightly more (due to 48V/hybrid if equipped) and likely higher cost as well, but it doesn't seem like it will go away.

My personal opinion is that there will be a 2019 model although I am hoping there isn’t-would love to see this car see 1M-like appreciation

I'm just hoping they release some more Audi-Sport components for these cars like they did for the TT-RS and R8.

I hate to be "that guy" but if this is what you're hoping for (or expecting), you bought the wrong vehicle.

Nope, not at all- Just wishful thinking- Would be sprinkles on the icing of the cake. If that was on my list of motives this car wouldn't be shortlisted.

The hilarious part is all the early adopters of the M2 who thought it was going to be the next 1M are going to get absolutely smashed in resale with the M2C coming out later in the year. BMW fucked those people over large. I almost bought one and am super glad I didn't.

The M2C looks badass. On that note, I think that the RS3 would have better status if we had gotten a manual option. I also ponder the rumour of a Golf R with the 2.5T in it. VW would certainly give that a manual option. Which maybe someone could swap into a RS3. How awesome would that be!?

Won't happen. People have been asking that for years but there is no way an RS only engine is going to end up in a VW.

After driving manual 18+ years and this being my first DCT, I don't miss it at all. The way this thing goes through gears without power loss is awesome.

That's great to hear. My last car (may she rest in peace) was a V4 2.0L VW Jetta that i drove for 10 years starting in high school. It was a stick. All these posts about the DCT and various modes (D/S/M) has got me super confused. Hopefully it'll all make more sense once i drive the thing in a few months

This was me. I had countless B5 S4's for a while (all manual), then got into a 8vS3. While an aboslutely fantastic car and DSG being great, I eventually missed having a manual.

Certainly no complaints here regarding the transmission. But sometimes I do miss the manual.

I do enjoy the effortless power of the rs3, having always had a stick it is intoxicating.

I've driven manual only for the last 11+ years, and at first I did not miss it at all, because the trans is very good. I don't have any complaints of this transmission, and it can absolutely bang through shifts, and is very effective at what it does. I am now starting to miss driving a manual though. But not in the sense that I would want to sell this car, more in the sense that with how digital this car is, I would love to be able to add something much more analog as a toy. That means whatever is added would most likely be (much) slower, but I think it would really be the best of both worlds: the digital monster jack of all trades (as a DD and race ready) and the old hands on, takes a bit more work, but rewarding in a different way, car.

The worst part about modern manuals to me is the boost loss during shifts. Drives me completely nuts. If I was to get another manual down the road it would probably be a lower power, more agile type of car.

That has come up in consideration. Although I would love an air cooled 911 (wouldn't we all) I think that ship has sailed with current demand/prices. What else would be in this class, a future classic driver's car?

*edit - capped at say 35K USD

There are way more new RS3s sitting at dealers on cars.com than I would have thought (243). Audi, please don't flood the market.

I think a lot of those are individual orders. Dealers “advertise” those to try and drive new orders.
