    So I have a problem with my A6 C5.
Drivers door will not open from outside, just from inside.
Do I need to change the lock mechanism, or can it be something else that is causing this?

Remove the door panel and see what's going on. Sounds like something is up with the lock mechanism. Maybe the pin between the handle and the latch?

Could be a detached pull cable. But if the door mechanism is shot, like it normally is, you're into some serious disassembly because to replace these is real PITA.

Try pushing on the top of the handle as you pull it up. Seems to work for my C5. One of these days I know that’ll stop working though.

On a recently acquired S6 Avant, I have already changed 3 door lock modules and the rear latch module... Anyways, the fault is probably in one or more of the circled areas in the pic.
