A6 Red stop / start button swap

I am trying to swap out my stop / start button and can't seem to get the old one out. I have the boot removed to get my hand down there but can't seem to find a way to remove the stock button. Do I need to remove the entire center console? I have searched all over for DIY's or videos but don't find anything. If you know of a link that would be helpful, please post.

You have to remove the leather under shifting knob but first you do have to have the shift in N or D. Then you need to remove the MMI control panel. Once you have removed it you can just push it out with your thumbs.

It takes a pretty hard yank to pull the MMI panel out. Be careful, some of the wires are shockingly short.

Thank you everyone. I got it installed this morning. Did just like you said, put it in drive, pulled up the leather shift boot, pulled up only the front portion of the control panel cover. Got my fingers in there much better and it pushed right out. Pulled the plug, lined up and replaced with the red one. Snapped everything back in place and done.
