    Gearbox Malfunction - 7spd

Was on a recent roadtrip. After about an hour hooning on some backroads in Dynamic (auto) mode, I got "Gearbox Malfunction" message popped up as I pulled into a parking lot - scare the heck out of me as I was in the boonies. The code that I pulled was a "P271600" (Pressure Control Solenoid "D"). It only did it one time. The car drives normal with no warning after a power cycle. Has anyone ran into this issue? Car is a 2018 with only 4700 miles when this happened.

Most likely the mechatronic unit and the dsg overheating. When this happens, you need to allow the dsg to cool for at least a day and drive it "softly".

Mine did this after a track day and 300miles from home. Was a long slow drive back in limp mode.

Dsg tune will help, but don't "Hoon" so long and you should be good.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guessed "hooning" was a bit overstated. Let's just say that it was only at a "spirited" pace from Fort Bragg thru Leggit on HWY1 (lots of twists and turns if you ever been up that way). Mine never went into limp mode. The error message popped up as I pulled into a parking lot. Shut down the car, went for a stroll, then restarted with no error from there on. Did it ever happen to you again after that track day?

Recently, but it's mainly because I was slipping in 4th-6th great with the stage 3+. The dsg freaked as I was looking and did a launch. Now fixed, but the car will log the problem until it's cleared with vcd or obd11, however, the error will go away on the dis.

Unfortunately, the dsg should be about to go through a twisty without problem. Bring it to the dealer and hopefully they can replicate and diagnose if just a quick fix or a bigger overall issue.

Thanks, I will address it with the dealer at my 10k service. Maybe the gearbox is still adapting during this break-in period? This was somewhat concerning as I didn't think DSG would be that delicate or fussy.

Could be or needs the basic transmission settings done again... Somewhat like recalibration.
