    2.7t in a rwd platform

    Hey guys,

So I am beginning on a partout soon of a b5 s4 that has frame damage and had the crazy idea of possibly putting the 2.7t from these cars into some sort of rwd Japanese sports-car (300zx, 240, etc). I know it may seem a little crazy, but since I have the motor and adore the way these motors sound and make power I thought it would be cool to put it in a rwd platform. I was wondering if you guys think it would be possible to use the factory transmission with a welded center differential or I would need an entirely different transmission. If so what transmission and how would I convert it to the 2.7. My plan would be to do IE rods on the motor and a single turbo and overall make a reliable, fun car. Also do you guys think it would be possible to stick with the stock ecu. I'd be trying to do this on a slight budget and 2k+ on a standalone setup is out of the question for me. I'd also be running a tial bov and tial wastegate with the setup. Overall just want your guys opinions on if its possible and would the best route would even be.

    Thanks,
    Brandon :)

    Anything's possible.

I'd put a small block v8 in a jap-car before an audi 2.7. v8 certainly the most documented, cheaper swap.

I definitely agree but part of the reason I want to do the swap is because it hasn't really been done before. Do something a bit different

I have thought about this before too. If I had the time and space to do it I would give it a shot and actually put my extra motor to use.

There has been 2.7 swapped into a foxbody that retained awd. Swapping a 2.7 into something that came RWD is generally no harder than any other "custom" engine swap. There are 1.8t swapped E30's running around New England, there is 4.2 swapped s13, tons of vr6 powered rwd cars (BMW's, S14, FC RX7, etc), AAN volvos. Just jump in and start putting things together.

I got the time and space I guess I might just have to send it. Right? I mean I have a full running, driving parts car so it can't be too crazy difficult.

Facts. I guess my guess is now what trans to use or to keep the one that's in it now and make it work.

That's what I was assuming it would be. Plus then I know it can handle the power of the mighty 2.7 :)

I wouldn't go that far, we all know the 01e isn't indestructible.

I agree with that, but it will be able to handle the power level I would like to shoot for (450) and I don't plan on power shifting it like a Honda either lol.
