    ECU, cluster and key issue

Picked up an 03 allroad with ECU immobilizer defeat. Was having a short through the cluster and the car only came with a valet key. I have tried to pair the new factory keys but VCDS just keep showing 0 keys. The cluster that came with the car had a short and was leaving several center console lights on leaving a drain. I copied the bin file from this cluster and then cloned it onto a replacement cluster. I think unfortunately there were codes for intermittent key and ECU communication that I saved and cloned. I am still getting the immobilizer flashing light on the replacement cluster as well as key and ECU codes from a VCDS scan.

    Codes

In short is there a way to pair new keys to a new cluster to an ECU that has the immobilizer removed without getting codes and the flashing immobilizer light on the cluster?

I have VCDS and Vag Commander.

You have to reactivate the Immo on the ecu to pair new keys then deactivate the immo agsin. It’s the only way unfortunately. Or you can remove the immo light from the cluster.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to reach out to someone I guess about the immo issue.

Another thing you could do is find an ecu with an immobilizer on it, change the pin on the cluster to match the different ecu and then pair your keys. Then swap the ecus back. It wouldn’t even have to be an allroad ecu. Just a me7 ecu will work.

For example, to pair some keys to an RS4 cluster I used a b5 a4 ecu, flashed an rs4 bin into it (to activate the eeprom,) read the pin, and then changed the pin on the cluster. Then I coded the keys to the cluster and then we swapped the ecu back to an s4 ecu.

I might be able to get an ECU from a C5 A6. Not sure how I pull the pin from the ECU to pair it with the cluster though. Is it the same process using Vag Commander but just reading the ECU?

What’s the process for reading the ECU pin and pairing the cluster? Thanks.

I use vag commander to pull the pin off the ecu and the cluster. Then use the immo 3 pairing process to switch the cluster to match the ecu pin. Then code your keys and then swap out the ecu for your immo defeated one. As long as the ecu is immo defeated and the pin matches on the keys and the cluster, it doesn’t matter what the actual pin is. I’ve always had a more difficult time switching the pin on the ecu, so the cluster makes the most sense, IMO.

Is all you’ll have to do is read the ecu/cluster with vag commander and it will give you the pin/login code

Ok. Thanks. Trying to track down an ECU.
