    RS3 Startup Sound question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    So-

Today when I started my car it had a much more muted sound, not the usual start up, then the extra brrrrrr noise. I shut it off then started it again and it went back to normal, but now has gone back to the muted sound without the extra brrrrrr noise at the end. Has anyone else noticed this?

(What a dumb sounding post, but maybe someone has some insight).

Mine always makes a much more fun noise at startup when it it warm. When cold (well, I’m in SoCal, so cold is relative) in the morning it does not have the extra pops and bangs.

It will depend on engine temperature, your car is acting as it should i wouldn't worry about it.

Warm start is kind of ridiculous haha. I like scaring the lady next to you after you finish up at the gas pump

If mines cold almost no noise. If warm then it’s sex. I live in Canada abd this time of year mornings can be 28F and as much as 70F in the PM

I’m not sure. The temps have been about the same. It is much more muted. In addition, it feels like the car, although purportedly in dynamic on startup, is not behaving like it’s in dynamic unless I cycle back to it through drive select. I’m not talk about dynamic s just regular dynamic.

You will need to select the mode every time you start the car. This has been covered in other threads.

Yes-I know about this but it was my understanding that the default mode is dynamic. What is the default mode if not dynamic. It says it’s in dynamic. Does it say dynamic but actually something else??

Default is Auto (I think), however it will display whatever mode you left it in. It lies until you cycle to another mode.

    Thanks-

If true that’s pretty dumb. I think this thing is making me paranoid.

It's true... just get in the habit of changing settings when you start it up. It's annoying but it is what it is.

I know it sounds juvenile, but the start up, with the barks and the pops, is a big part of the reason I love this car. Makes me wanna wait to start it until there's someone around to hear it.
