Hi all. I acquired an audi a4 2.0l fsi on a 53 plate around 10 months ago with a top end rattle, which i diagnosed to the cam chain. so that got replaced as well as the cps and it's been fine since until the other day. Was coming home from work and whilst driving on the motorway the epc light came on and car lost all power, pulled over and it went out. stopped the engine and restarted no problems so carried on home and put it down to low fuel(called at the garage on way home and filled up). i scanned the car with a code reader and it showed P1020. so cleared the code and day after car ran fine. Yesterday went out shopping and on the way there ran fine on the motorway and when i came off and was in traffic epc light kept coming on then off, if i stopped at traffic lights it would idle fine but when i set off again epc light would come on for a few seconds and then would go out until i stopped again. parked up did shopping and set off back home. On way home ran fine again until i got near home and it started again, managed to get it home just, but now it wont start, it tries revs get to 3/400 but just dies straight away. scanned for codes and now its saying there are no codes. question is could it be the in tank pump that has packed in or am i looking at something more sinister.

    Many thanks

    steve

Ok after giving the car a coat of looking at and testing a few things i've found that if i disconnect the fuel rail pressure sensor g247 the car will start and rev. will it be ok to run it like this till i can get a new sensor monday or will it damage something more serious.

If it seems to run OK just drive gently. Do you have any way (ex: Torque Pro) to monitor your fuel trims in real time?

yes got torque pro , tested intank pump and seemed to be running ok. does the intank pump vary fuel delivery or is it a constant same pressure supply

Tank pump should remain fairly constant. The high pressure pump varies the pressure according to demand.

what is your LTFT running when steady state driving?

That number in ebay gives me something totally different (not even car related).

I think you would be better of purchasing an OEM or at least one made by an OEM supplier. The one linked will probably take a little modification to mount and will probably differ in output from the OEM pump which could cause some fueling problems. You can save a few $$ with this pump up front but may end up paying a higher price down the line getting it sorted.

Hi there after replacing the fuel rail sensor the car seems to be running ok. Monitoring the LTFT when driving steady it goes from 0.0% to 3.3 and as high as 5.7% but mostly between 0 and 3.3.

Perfectly normal for a FSI engine. Sounds like you are in good shape!
