    Subframe Bolt Spinning

    Hello,
I noticed one of my subframe bolts was missing the other day, so I ordered the OEM replacement (M12 X110mm Grade 10.9 torque to 81ft/lbs plus 1/4 turn).
I went to install it and it wont tighten down, just keeps spinning

Do you have to cut your way in to fit a wrench over the top nut, or can you get to it from above by removing the carpet in the driver side footwell? This is on my drivers side at the location indicated in the link

Is it possible to start by trying to helicoil the threads?

I've heard supposedly that a proper helicoil is stronger than normal threads. But I'm something like that I would just tap it to the next size bigger bolt. My 2c

I think OP means the nut has come loose from the body so it just spins and can't be tightened. I've only ran into that once on a different car and had to an access window.

To OP, are you sure the nut is spinning and it's not just stripped?

You all raise some good points, how would I tell if it was stripped vs not connecting with the nut? The nut could also be loose and stripped? I don't know what the internals of this section look like. Is there a way to peek in from the floorboard rather than cutting in?

There is no nut. You will have to helicoil the hole. I pulled the sub-frame to do it. Have fun.
