A4 S-Line Front Bumper Splitter Insert

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've cracked all the vertical supports on the lower grill insert on my s-line A4.

I've found the replacement part 8K0807647A. The part itself has tabs, almost like it's possible to slide in/out of the bumper cover.

Does anyone know how to get this out without removing the whole bumper cover?

I know on my non S-Line B8.5 it is not possible to remove that lower section without taking the whole bumper off. The mounting points overlap with the grill, there really is no way to circumvent that. It's a pain the first time you do it, but now that I have done it 3 times I can do it in 30 mins or so.

    Thanks for the reply!

I tried getting the bumper off last week, but got as far as the 3 bolts in the wheel well and got stuck (using the ECS guide).

In the wheel well, I took out the two screws and the t-headed stud clip from the fender liner, but no matter how hard I wrestled the liner I couldn't make enough room to get my hands inside - it was too tight. Do you remove the liner entirely?

I also didn't have a long enough extension on my socket set to reach the "Fender Screw".

So I'll give you some tips. You don't actually want to remove the two bolts that attach the "bumper retainer" on the body of the car, you just need to loosen them enough so you can pull that corner of the bumper off. It's more a PITA to remove them fully then later try to re-attach them and get the bumper to snap back in place.
Also for the fender liner, all you have to remove is those two T25 bolts and the plastic clip. You don't have to remove the fender liner at all, but you will need a long extension to remove the inner bolt that is labeled "fender screw". Remove the under tray obv., disconnect the fog lights, and connector for the Homelink sensor in the front too. It really is that easy after you do all that, thing just pulls right off.
I should Facebook Live me doing it tonight for you haha, gotta install my new grill and new front lip.

Ok, you've talked me into trying again! Will have to grab a long extension to get the "fender screw" out. It's just such a tight space trying to squeeze past the little gap in the fender liner.

    A video would be kickass

To get to that fender screw, make sure the temps arn't super cold or else the fender liner will be hard to bend/push out of the way. If anything heat it up with a heat gun or hairdryer so you can make it pliable. Totally forgot this handy tip: Whichever side you are doing first turn the wheels toward the opposite side all the way. Frees up a lot of room for you to work in the wheel well area. Also makes it so you don't have to jack up the car/remove the wheel.

Ok, so that might be the problem. It was about 44 in the garage when I tried, and yes - the liner was really stiff. It's supposed to be in the 60s next week so I'll try then (if I can get the part delivered in time).

If you are trying to get jus the insert out of the front bumper, totally do-able on a B8 s-line bumper. I've done it a couple of times, wrapped that piece with some carbon vinyl. Use your phone and video the backside ... then you will be able to see where the bolts are ... once you know where they are, it's easy ... but until you can see them from the backside, it's like being completely blind.

I can't take any video or photos right now as my car is in the body shop getting a full repaint. Can't wait to get it back ... it's been 3 weeks so far and will be another week at least ... But it will look like brand new again. Yay! (I had paint peeling like crazy all around the lip of the front fenders)
