Shortcut to switch into DYNAMIC mode? (Not the asterisk button)

Most likely someone figured this out and I might be late to the game however...I hate cycling through the dash or asterisk clicks.

While driving in COMFORT and stopped at a light (D and Comfort displayed on dash), I grabbed the shifter, pulled in the trigger button on the shifter and pulled back once on the shifter. This "appears" to be placing the car into DYNAMIC mode, changing "D" to "S" but not changing the display showing "COMFORT". I didn't touch the asterisk button, the Drive Setting dash button or throw the shifter right..into M.

I say "appears to" because, idle rpms go up, exhaust louder and throttle response are noticeably "dynamic". Tried this same procedure again while in motion and I could hear the car revert back to COMFORT idle and exhaust sounds with the dash still showing COMFORT.

I'm gonna test this again tonight on my drive home but thought I'd ask if anyone else noticed this or if I'm just plain crazy.

This is a post PORT HOLD car.

Try launch control, that’s the ultimate test.

What you are doing is putting the engine and transmission into sport/dynamic mode. The steering, dampers and quattro system will all still be in comfort however.

Yeah... Known fact. Even an A3 will do this.

I have a post PORT HOLD car as well. I literally drive in Dynamic mode, and pop it into "S" whenever I drive it. If you want the loud exhaust after starting up and in park, then you have to cycle through again to get the valves open. I just pop it into "S" don't know if that does the same thing, but seems to open it up, just haven't tested it out fully. If not, I will GLADLY cycle through and do that, as its just worth it. I only drive in Comfort mode if the little one is asleep in the back and we are on a long car ride.

Pulling the stick into S mode works the same as cycling back to dynamic again.

So my car is always in dynamic, when I get in to drive I just pull back to S and it's in full dynamic mode for that drive. Quickest way to do it.

Perfect, that’s what I was hoping. But in park and you want to rev, you still need to cycle sadly. Damn computers lol

Only if that is the first thing you do when you get in the car. Which if it's cold is not a good idea.

Thanks for clarifying this for me.

    ^^ Spot on.

Cycling through will give U the 'true' dynamic mode.

Maybe i missed something but what does this have to do with a car that was held at port? So are you looking for exhaust sound or all settings changed to dynamic?

The only problem I have with the explanation that putting the car into S puts the car into dynamic is if that were true, why even have the transmissions settings at all if it is actually controlled by D/S.

Also, what you're saying is you can never be in Dynamic D or Comfort S, which is false.

Only pointed out after PORT HOLD because its still unknown truly why the cars were held (emissions, ecu flash, mud flaps etc) for the duration. Most of us were told ECU flash therefore its unknown what if anything might be different between 2017 model year (MY) builds and latter 2017 for 2018 MY builds delivered before the hold.

Not to worry, this is very common DSG logic for pretty much any VW or Audi DSG transmission. Go experiment with individual mode and you will get an idea as to the granularity of drive select. All you are really changing is the transmission.

Minor niggle, but does anyone else wish there were two individual modes? I mean theoretically they could make fifty of them for minimal cost, but you know, that wouldn't leave room on future models for more.

Oh, yah i haven't heard of an ECU update/tsb confirmed. So your car is a 2017 correct? Seems like to get true dynamic you have to cycle thru DS like others have mentioned from my experience.
