I decided to start a new thread to share my shopping experience for this system outlined in the title. I have spent the last month trying to hunt down the right deal and make sure I’m partnering with the right vendors/companies. I decided to email every tuning company you can think of including some that don’t even advertise Milltek. My goal was to rate customer service, response times, price of course (but wasn’t most important) and general vibe from the representative.
1st Criteria > Customer service/response time: Most but certainly not all companies responded fast to my request because who wouldn’t when a customer seeks them out to spend money. Like any negotiator I shared my thoughts and price points on the replies. That’s when 90% of the vendors stopped emailing back. The other amazing piece was how many told me I was wrong and no one would ever offer the price I’m asking for (I won’t share pricing out of confidentiality or the names that consist of the 90% out of respect). Let’s just say the 90% were 100% wrong.
2nd Criteria > who’s an enthusiast and who’s a salesman/saleswomen: Conversations were through emails so I will factor in it’s hard to hear enthusiasm via emails but you could tell by wording and words chosen I believe. Again, I personally found a 90% - 10% split again. This doesn’t refer to their product knowledge or understanding of the equipment...just overall vibe in communication (subjective, I understand).
3rd Criteria > Pricing and/or how willing to work with me on price: I almost believe the “Big Box” tuning companies must email each other and set pricing. They all claim they can only offer what Milltek will let them..hard to believe but maybe true. I also thought..bought inventory can be marketed anyway you want but maybe that’s not true. Once I pushed back a little I got radio silence from 6-7 companies. I had to reach back out again to confirm they received my emails...they did...just chose not to respond. To me that’s a huge turn-off, I wasn’t asking for crazy discounts just common sale pricing outside of sale window. If I have to follow up to spend my money then I will spend it somewhere else.
Before I announce the company I personally feel met all those marks and decided to purchase from; I want to be clear about the intent of this post. So many have shared their input with me and I wanted to give back to the community. I didn’t receive anything from the company that wasn’t offered originally for me posting or sharing my thoughts. I just think it’s the right thing to do and perhaps it helps someone else too.
The company I decided to go with is E1 Motorsports. I reached out to Nick and he was the very first to respond, kept responding and certainly found a price point I felt was fair. Again, I don’t think it’s right to share but I’m sure he’d be happy to shoot you a quote. I literally just purchased it (technically still need to confirm PayPal payment) so I can’t speak to shipping speed or condition upon arrival...Yet. I am not concerned though. It’s easy to tell he’s an enthusiast (not saying others aren’t) and seems like a decent guy via PM’s and emails. Overall, I’m glad I emailed as many companies as possible and remained patient through the process. In the end I believe I made the right choice on company and have to say I’M PUMPED about buying this system.
***This thread is not intended to criticize any tuning company as there are many great reps I’ve worked with. This is 100% specific to my experience buying the exhaust system.
I will make sure to post remarks and pics throughout the shipping, receiving and of course...installation and sound!
Long read for sure...but wanted to share thus far. Thanks to all the members advice leading me to Milltek and E1 Motorsports. Can’t wait!
