    B6/B7 S4/RS4 water-jet mod (fan spray)

This might come in handy for the B6/B7 folks that have the old 2-line water-jet (on most early model cars). A UK forum member advised me on which parts are needed. They were quite easy to source at a local Audi dealer (total cost ~55€/70$).

    Job duration: 15-25min
Job difficulty: medium (sensitive plastic parts that can easily break)

    Tools needed:
    - Flat head screwdriver
    - T20 torx (if not mistaken, or either T15)

    Parts list:
    - 2x 8E0955431 (plastic shims)
    - 2x 5M0955986C (heated water-jet)

Remove the old water jets from under the hood (gently assist with flat head screwdriver)

    Unplug water and power connector

    Comparison old vs new

First place the new shim on the edge closer to the windscreen

When installing the new jets, the power cable needs to be carefully routed to the opposite side of the jet

When pressing the water jet into position first hook the jet on the metal side of the opening, align the side tabs to the opening and then (with feeling) press the jet down on the side with the plastic shim. When doing so secure the plastic shim with two fingers on each corner so it doesn't "jump out" and falls into the opening (never to be seen again). The jet has to click into position and sit very firmly.

    End result

Adjustment of the new jets is a lot easier than the old 2 line jets

One of the best mods ever!!! I did this on my old B6 2.7 swapped car and it was amazing to see how much fluid I saved as well as how much better the windshield was cleaned

    Great write up.

I took a before picture of the old 2 nossel sprayers; but I didn't take a picture of the new jet-sprayers. And I'm out of the country for some work atm.

I'll make a pic first thing when I get back, but I got to use them a bit after installation and am very pleased with the efficiency. As mentioned above, they use a lot less fluid and cover a very big surface on the windscreen. You don't have "dry spots" in the wiper path anymore, the complete wiper surface is nicely and evenly sprayed with water.

Otherwise thank you, glad to help!

There are two different shim kits available - one for aluminium (RS4) and one for steel (non-RS4). When you buy the 3-jet kits from Audi, they include both but the shim kits have their own part numbers molded onto the shim and apparently can be ordered independently.

Any chance you know what the part numbers are?

The part number for the RS4 aluminium bonnet is above (separate from the jets, as S4Bennet wrote).
