*Unitronic Stage 3 Dual Pulley Upgrade Kit for 3.0 TFSI - Now Available!*

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

Unitronic® is pleased to announce the release of its Stage 3 Crank Pulley Upgrade Kit for the 3.0TFSI* engines. Featuring an impressive increase to [COLOR=red]493 HP/441 lb-ft of torque, Unitronic’s Stage 3 Crank Pulley Upgrade Kit includes its 187 mm Crank Pulley, 7PK1300 Belt, and most importantly, its Stage 3 Dual Pulley Performance Software calibration.

This can be purchased as an Upgrade Kit for users who already have Unitronic’s Stage 1/1+ Software or Stage 2+ Supercharger Drive Pulley Kit. Or it can be purchased as a complete kit with the Supercharger Drive Pulley.

Unitronic's Stage 3 Dual Pulley Performance Software calibration is engineered specifically for use with both its Supercharger Drive and Crank Pulleys to ensure maximum performance is achieved while maintaining complete OEM-like reliability and drivability.

Unitronic strongly recommends combining its Stage 3 Dual Pulley Upgrade with an effective Supercharger Cooling System/Heat Exchanger Upgrade to ensure maximum performance can be achieved and can be achieved repeatably. Through development and testing, Unitronic observed up to a 30 hp variance in engine output based on operating conditions, while using the stock (OEM) heat exchanger, as a result of increased intake air temperatures and associated temperature-based corrections to boost and ignition timing.

Upgrading the Supercharger Cooling System/Heat Exchanger with an effective upgraded unit will lead to an overall decrease in intake air temperatures, allowing for cooler, more dense air to be ingested by the engine and therefore, no temperature based ECU corrections, leading to better overall performance that can be sustained for longer periods of time where the stock cooling system/heat exchanger would otherwise fall short, suffering from heat soak very quickly when turning the supercharger at such high speeds.

Unitronic is actively developing and testing solutions to address the stock (OEM) Cooling System/Heat Exchangers/Intercoolers, as we reached the limit on the stock components at these power levels. Unitronic will continue to develop a Supercharger Cooling System/Intercooler solution to allow for us to further develop the 3.0TFSI platform for an even greater increase in engine output.

    FEATURES

    • 187 mm Crank Pulley

    • 6061-T6 Aluminum construction

    • Black anodized finish

    • TDC marking for easy install

    • 7PK1300 belt

    • Genuine Audi crankshaft bolts included

*Available for B8/B8.5 S4/S5 and SQ5 models only currently. Peak engine output will vary based on the the maximum engine speed limit. Support for C6 A6, C7 A6/A7, A8, Q5, and Q7 is coming soon!

    Awesome!

So, it’s safe to use without the cooling? I understand it may not make advertised numbers repeatedly... I just want to be clear that it’s safe to do so.... while you guys develop your cooling option(s).

    Thanks.

    $450 for pulley, belt, software.

I assume we’d need to pay a dealer time to download the tune. Or cable. You know, for when switching to the race gas program. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink

    Couple of questions:

Are those dyno numbers based on 93 octane fuel?
What other mods are on the car that ran 493hp?
What kind of dyno are you using?
Lastly what is the weight of the pulley?

I saw it was $2,000 on their webpage. Is that $450 for an upgrade over stage 1?

I see 2150 CAD for dual pulley upgrade kit. Does this include the supercharger pulley? Shows the supercharger pulley in picture but does not appear in the hardware included section.

    Thanks.

Gah why must the pricing for your stage 3 be what I paid for a single pulley stage 2.

Yes, it's safe; the ECU will apply corrections for Intake Air Temperature (IAT), so if you're using a stock cooler/heat exchanger, you'll likely float into those corrections.

It's $450 USD to upgrade from Stage 2+ to Stage 3, and it includes our Stage 3 Software Upgrade, Crank Pulley, Belt, and Crankshaft bolts.

The dyno figures are using 93 octane fuel. No other modifications on the vehicle. We're using a MAHA LPS3000 dyno. Our pulley is 2.0 lbs; 6.6 lbs lighter than OEM.

If you're currently Stage 1 or Stage 1+, it is $950 USD ($1050 CAD) and includes the Stage 3 Software Upgrade, Supercharger Drive Pulley, Crank Pulley, Belt, and Crankshaft bolts.
If you're currently Stage 2+, it is $450 USD ($550 CAD) and includes the Stage 3 Software Upgrade, Crank Pulley, Belt, and Crankshaft bolts.
If you're currently stock, it is $2000 USD ($2150 CAD) to go straight to Stage 3 and includes the Stage 3 Software, Supercharger Drive Pulley, Crank Pulley, Belt, and Crankshaft bolts.

Since Unitronics currently does not offer a Supercharger Cooling System/Heat Exchanger Upgrade, which system is recommended?

$2k to go dual pulley from stock is a pretty good deal if you compare to EPL and APR, they'll both run you $2k+ for software then you have to buy a crank pulley. I'll be upgrading as soon as I've got some spare change.

Don't forget to add around 800$ for the dsg tune if you are not manual. EPL is still cheaper when they have their sales.

Ah, missed that part. At any rate, it is competitively priced, plus you can bank on 10% off or so when they have a sale.

'bout time....I see another vendor going with a "non-dampered" crank pulley. Maybe there is no issue going dampened vs non-damped.

Congrats you guys. You're going to have some fun with those files. Even as an early adopter I can say in 100% honesty that I never had a hiccup on any of the beta files. Not a single negative driveability issue that had to ever be corrected. It was literally just dialing up the power in the revisions. Great job getting the product out John. I know you had / have a lot of competing projects.

Thanks Mike! It was a pleasure to work with you back in the early BETA stages. I'd love for you to experience the final release product. I know you don't have your 3.0TFSI anymore, but we have to find a way to get you some seat time in the production files. It's quite a bit better than it was back then. Thanks for your kinds words Mike! Stay in touch!

$1650 USD for just our Stage 3 ECU Software without hardware. Keep in mind our Stage 3 ECU Software is calibrated for a 3.2 ratio.

Mike, Thanks for the tip for Tampa Motorsports. I finally talked to John (I believe) not Evan about the test pipes or HFC. Very helpful guys and will go that route. Also contemplating their supercharger porting and heat coating. Now I have to find out if Unitronic has a file for the O2 sensor to alleviate the CEL.

No, sorry. Our Stage 3 pricing is as competitive as it gets pretty much.

We've had this in BETA with this for over 2 years and haven't experienced any issues with any of our BETA cars, including one of them that has over 250,000km and counting on the original OEM cats.

If you're removing the factory cats with test pipes, we'll need to do much more than just patch the catalyst efficiency codes. Email me for more details; john [at] getunitronic [dot] com.

So , John , you're saying that we should NOT be worried about that with ST3 we're going to burn out our cats ?! There are many topics on this forum that people complain about burned cats as results of high tune.

I'm saying that we haven't encountered any as mentioned in my previous post.

Is this with stock fueling or is an aftermarket hpfp or lpfp upgrade required?

You’re going to eventually burn out the cats going dual pulley. This shouldn’t be news to anyone.
