    A6 C5 2.7 manual swap axles

I'm in the middle of swapping a manual trans into a 2.7 c5 a6. Everything is going quite well so far, but I'm a bit stuck as far as the axles go.
Obviously the tip axles won't work because theyre to short. I've got a pair of 01E axles coming from a 3.0 B6, I've put those in but I think they're to short, can someone confirm this?

Which axles should work? Just those specific c5 manual axles or do I have more options?

I don't know for sure but I may assume that the b6 a4 may not be as wide as a c5 therefore the axles may not be as long....but don't quote me cause I'm no pro dealing with axles....that's just my guess

As far as I know, the B6 axles won't work ... different inner joint size ... from Scotty "B6 is something funky..." http://advancedautomotion.com/shop/p...roducts_id/367

Exactly my thoughts, I just can't find any axle lenghts anywhere.

They actually fit onto the rs4 b5 gearbox flange, knocked the cap of the end of the inner cv and they look good to go. Theyre just a bit to short, not how I remember installing axles on the b5 for instance.

The B6 axles will fall apart when your suspension drops. I think one of the B6 axles is close enough to use, the other will disappoint you soon when you don't expect it. Autozone usually has the manual A6 axles pretty cheap brand NEW. Like $50-$75 last time I bought them, and no core charge even. I know people like to bitch about them but I don't think I've ever had one fail. For that price I'll risk since they're guaranteed forever.
The passenger side axle should be a bitch to get in usually, there's nothing special about the swap except for some new profatity you come up with. If it went it super easy and you didn't have to fight it at all then the axle is too short.

Crap- you're in the Netherlands? Sorry...Autozone probably isn't going to help!! You shouldn't have a problem finding manual 01E Axles over there..!?

not to be argumentative but curious why were trying to find axles that will work instead of using correct axles. from a manual a6?

If you get a set of remanufactured axles from Advance Auto or Autozone, they'll usually be a much higher quality than the new ones, and they're not super expensive. Plus, you can just stick the b6 axles in the box for the core.

Yeah, trying to avoid buying stuff that's not from Europe. The customs charge quite a lot of money for importing.
I've found a set of used manual 2.7 axles on the German Ebay, sorted now, I hope.

Almost every A6 over here is an auto, so it's quite hard finding a good pair of axles.

Hard to find, almost every A6 has an auto trans over here.

Thanks man, but trying to avoid buying from outside of the US due to custom fee's.
