Did all HID headlights have auto level, or was that another option?

Regarding leveling, I believe all HIDs auto-leveled due to laws, at least in the US.

Auto leveling has to do with added load. By that I mean that if a car is set up with a driver, the lights are at a certain level. When you load up the trunk, or add more people, the load level of the car changes and that can see light beams alter (this is why there is a sensor mounted to the front and rear suspension both). Auto level is intended to account for those added loads by adjusting the beam when you alter the base setting.

Correct. The allroad added to this because its air suspension. With each corner being able to raise or lower via both user choice (level control switch) or via load, there are level sensors on all 4 corners. With added load, the allroad will also raise itself up to compensate, or lower itself when said load is removed.
