    How do you know if the chain is Kaboom!

    Hey Guys.

    I bought a used S4 B6, I will try to fix it, if I see that it’s going to cost a lot then will part it and wait for another one.

    Now, the one I bought advertised as;

    Vehicle does not start. Vehicle has water in radiator and oil in engine. It is suspected that there is mechanical damage to this vehicle. Interior is in average condition. Two keys are available.

    With 214 k km, I guess the chain snapped.

    What would be the fastest way to tell if it’s the chain or something else ? Apart from removing the VCs

    Will a scan show me something ?

    Will be getting it by end of this week

    I got the car
    Scanned and got ton or errors from the engine controller mostly from camshaft positioning / sensor

    If I try to start the car, I can hear the starter spins free / loose.

    I guess it’s the chain.

    Anyone ?

    Are you playing a guessing game or do you intend to open the motor and inspect the actual issue?

    I’m going to open it.
    Those questions were before the car actually here.
    After I scanned it I realised it’s toast.
