Sounds like a tune issue or a lazy wideband

Pretty sure my heads are lifting. Coolant spraying when I hit full boost. Pressure tested it and can't find a leak, but I'm losing pressure. Yay....

So I'm leaking a very small amount of air out of the overflow when I'm pressure testing the system. Has anyone had this same issue? Tank cracked?

Compression was good across all cylinders. 150ish with one reading 160.

Going to get a tank and cap from the dealer tomorrow and hope that fixes it.

Either the tank is cracked or the pressure tester isn’t sealed to the tank. I’m not sure if you can still get oem tanks from the dealer or not.

I have 20 arriving later this month

It's totally discontinued by Audi USA - has been for quite some time.

If she is with Audi, she will find out, she can’t order it. It’s NLA for them in the US. I took every single one in North America last year, which was 4 lol. And then it became a popular item for me after I posted my brand new one in a picture on my car, so I began getting it from Tradition in bulk. Anywhere from 20-50 at a time. Same goes for the windshield washer reservoir.

It’s why ECS, who simply gets Audi stuff from their local dealer, keeps pushing their arrivals out. It will never arrive is my guess. They’ve pushed out eta’s at least half a dozen times. Eventually it will be listed as discontinued.

Unavailable. She said go aftermarket, which is what I did, and it seems like it's screwing me now. I was going to ask about ecs cause it shows theirs in stock, but it sounds like that's not the case.

Bb k24, meth and hopefully e85

It doesn’t show in their stock

I’m the only one I’m aware of who’s had these in recent months. FCP had one left - Jesse got it, as I was awaiting a batch.

I had a bunch of people who got multiple at once, which is partially why they leave so fast. Shipping them over also isn’t cheap, but I’ll keep doing it till I’ve exhausted their supply.

I did get the last one. Which I just sold lol. I have another oem one if you need one to test. If you pay shipping you can have it. Cap too.

The seal is on the O ring. Once it gets past that it’s going to blow out of the overflow and possibly where you see it. It sounds like your heads are lifting. I went through this same process hoping it wasn’t the case, but it was.

Pulled a oil sample to confirm.

I'm going to start my list.

What head gaskets set should I go with. I'm obviously doing studs. Should I get the bottom end checked out?

Have a weird thing happening. I left the pressure tester hooked up with pressure on it, it lost all pressure and my oil level raised and no more coolant in the res. So I accepted fate. Still waiting on the oil sample, I pulled the stick again last night and the level was back down to the same level as it was before the last pulls. So I gained oil level and then lost it again with no leaks on the ground. Any ideas?

Lifting heads typically doesn’t push coolant into the oil. It pushes combustion gases into the coolant system and the coolant out of the overflow.

It should be pretty easy to find if it's not getting into the oil. It doesn't make sense that it got into the oil then magically back out of the oil.

Erling is fine but I’d definitely get the heads resurfaced while they are off.

I was going to have them gone through. Can't decide if I need to the block. I guess get it apart and see what the bottom end looks like.

Any better options on the head gaskets. Are the tuners worth it at $250?

I just did a reseal on my backup block I swapped into the car with victors, granted its been a week but nothings leaking at 22psi. Shouldn't have any issues with any that you go with tbh, being MLS.

Just for shits and giggles, I threw on my old cap with the new resivor and pressure tested it. Very minimal loss of pressure at 15psi. Over 2 hours it dropped to 11 psi. I can hear it still leaking out of the overflow on the bottom of the tank. So I went out and drove it, and it did drip a little coolant onto the manifold but not nearly as much as before and no loss of power at 5500. Went all the way to 7k with zero issues.

I'm going to order the oem cap and see what happens.

If you’re loosing pressure out of the overflow with a pressure tester either the tester isn’t sealed or the tank is cracked.

I didn't use a normal pressure tester this time. I made it so I had pressure going in the top port of the tank and left the cap on. I also tried it this way with the new napa cap, and it immediately lost all pressure through the cap. If im not mistaken, this should eliminate the tester not sealing correctly and test the cap at the same time.

Just removed the timing stuff. Question is, I just put this belt on less than 1500 miles ago and the water pump is a oem audi one put in 30k ago, do I reuse the belt and the water pump as there isn't any movement in the pump.

The pulleys will get replaced. I do see some grease coming out of one of them, and the other feels a little loose. I will also be getting a new tensioner

If you marked the rotation you could reuse it but they are cheap enough

FWIW: Buy parts from FCP so when you’re in that kind of situation you can get a free replacement

Have the heads taken off and found that the blick is already studded, but the nut on the stud is the regular audi head bit style. My arp studs are triple square. What kind of studs are these?

I also did find a very small kind of crack, maybe. It's just on the surface of the head but doesn't protrude into the chamber. Maybe under boost it opens up, but it doesn't look like any cracked head I've seen. How often are cracked heads on these?

I can't get pictures to upload.

It is. I'm dropping the head off tomorrow so they can take a look at it. There are a few more marks like that on the surface but they look like indents and not cracks. I guess I'll see what the machine shop says.

Was the head gasket blown out in that area? That defect look too perfect to be a crack. Almost looks like the head was dropped on a sharp edge or someone scratched it with a razor blade. Hard to tell from a picture at one angle though...

The gasket has the same line on it, and it looks like it has a path to a coolant passage. I'll try to upload more pics.

I was very gentle with it. My first thought was it happened when it was installed.

I did find out these are raceware studs, though. Can't decide if it want reuse them or throw in the apr studs I just bought.
