    Question Performance/Tuning HELP

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, first of all I apologize in advance for any dumb questions as I don't really know as much as I should when it comes to tuning. Bodywork and fabbing bodykits etc..no problem but performance mods... i'm a little lost .
Ok so first thing is I have an 05 b7 S line quattro and I am already at stage 1, Iv'e got CAI (or hot air intake as some people may argue) uprated GFB DV and I have had a muffler/back box delete and of course stage 1 map. I really want some more power and torque and want to go to stage 2, now I am literately as poor as fuck unfortunately but I still want to try to afford it so

Question 1- Am I right in saying I could get away with just fitting a testpipe (decat dp for UK) and a stage 2 map? And yes I know a HFC is better but I definitely can't afford that, and yes I know it will fail UK M.O.T so I've got to change it out every year which after seeing some tutorials on Youtube seems a pain in the ass but i'm willing to do it, and no I can't afford a HPFP or FMIC either, SO will just a Testpie/Decat be ok to achieve stage 2??

Question 2- I've been trying to find a testpipe/decat dp here in the UK for a reasonable price I've been searching on ebay and found lots for the A3 B7 and the A4 B8 but have only found a few for the A4 B7 but they are from china and it’s hard to trust if it really fits or not, but its under £80/$120 so its affordable, otherwise they are all from the US and still around the same price but all the ones I find either say 06-09 and not 2004.5-2008.5 or they say not for quattro...where the hell can I find one of these preferably in the UK for a similar price??

Question 3- What realistic gains would I get?? And do you think it's worth it??

Anyway hope someone out there can help me with this info, so thanks in advance

And please I know it may be tempting for some of you, who know what they are actually talking about to give me some shit like "if you can't afford it don't do it" or "you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about" etc But yeah I don't so that’s why i'm asking so PLEASE no shitty comments

A stage 2 tune that doesn’t really require a HPFP upgrade is hardly worth buying. It will most likely just turn off or code out the check engine light that will come on with a high flow cat or test pipe. You will have very minimal gains. Perhaps the only gain will be faster spool time.

A stage 2 tune that requires a HPFP upgrade is where I would want to be if I were you. Stage 2 really maxes out the fuel delivery without the pump upgrade. Depending on who’s tune you buy you might experience fuel cut outs without it.

The money you wasted on a “hot air intake” and your unnecessary DV upgrade could have easily bought you upgraded HPFP internals needed for a real stage 2 tune or paid for a high flow cat or test pipe.

I suggest you read a ton of threads here and take notes. The members here really know what works and what doesn’t. Read, take notes, save your money and mod your car correctly. Make a plan, save money and execute that plan.

I never thought I would spend 6K on mods for a car I paid 5500 for but I made a plan, skipped lunch for a year and made it happen.

Thanks for the info, the dv+ was already fitted and the ramair filter for the hot air intake was only £20/$30 so I doubt I could have done much with that, but thanks at least I know it's not really worth doing then, as I can't waste my money. with regards to spending 6k ..Yea that will never happen on my income, I have a wife and two daughters and I spend all my money on them, like it should be, I had just a little cash I was gonna use for myself but as you said it's really not worth the gain so I won't bother. But at least I know now. Thanks again.
