Drove the new RS-3...want it...change my mind, or not

Yeah so... completely feel in love with that damn 5 cylinder fml, currently looking at selling the TTS and the GTI to get the rs3.

    Opinions?

    Upgrade or downgrade.

A few things that bother me and I know for sure I'll miss on the TTS.

For starters what in the fuck was Audi thinking not putting automatic seats...it's a $65K car for fuck sakes 😤😤.

I absolutely love the tts seats and seems like the rs3 seats are not in the same league.

That middle screen looks to be poor quality, backup camera quality was pretty bad.

Other than that, any other things I'll be downgrading from the TTS?

I have a 2 year old and a German Shepherd and that was the only reason why I bought the 4 door GTI, however having one 4 door fun car (rs3) seems to be the answer now, I'm paying about $1K for both a month, the rs3 would be around the same or less. And plus my gf is sick and tired of not being able to park in the garage, cause only 2 car garage...so it's either bigger house or 1 car...😂 Guess which one I went with.

Or new girl friend! It is a great car-the RS3. The one thing I think you will miss is everyone saying "I love you car" about the TT. It's very unique. The RS3 is great and very cool but will not be recognized as much. I get constant comments on my TTRS.

    You're absolutely correct.

I get so many stares and compliments on the tts it's ridiculous, yet they always think it's the R8 for a sec then get disappointed.

Well I can't get rid of her, she likes it up the butt, hard to find.

Have you driven a TT-RS? The manual seats in the RS3 really pissed me off too.

I have not and don't want to, I need a 4 door car. Considering other brands too, but Audi always my #1

Nothing else currently compares well to the RS3 that’s 4-door. The RS5 sportback maybe... and there’s talks of Porsche doing more a smaller sedan in a the coming years.

isnt your TTS fitted with a DP? u should be makin similar numbers to the Rs3 ( stock ).

I personally have no desire for an rs3 at all. great car, sure. but the looks is so bland, and in my eyes its forever an entry level RS. kind of a douche thinking, I know lol

after doing the dp on the tts, the car is so much damn quicker and louder and the driving experience is completely transformed. I would think u would be having a blast with urs

I would not give up my tts for an rs3. no way.

    It's a great car but:

1: You'll definitely get less attention
2: The interior quality sucks in comparison. I drove one and the center console squeaked as my knee pressed against it... Inside is a big downgrade in every way.
3: You'll only gain that engine as far as positives (in my opinion) and with a DP and JB1 you're about even with a stock RS3.
4: TTS feels much more special to me.

Give it a little time cause you may regret making a fast switch. But again, the RS3 is an awesome car.

I have an RS3. Came from a 2018 S5 Sportback Prestige (and a B8 S4, F80 M3, B8.5 S4). It was an emotional purchase because of the motor and because a rare one showed up at my local dealer unspoken for. But I was — and am still — super bummed out by the lack of technical features. No programmable HomeLink, the screen feels small and cheap, the backup camera is pretty mediocre, and I lost the top view camera. And the manual seats. It was a downgrade in every way other than the motor. It's fast and balls, but it's a GTI with a world class motor. I wish I'd had the balls to get the TT-RS. Way more special.

I've got a deposit on the RS5 Sportback to get back into an adult-sized sedan with features and is just as fast.

I hate to talk bad about the sister car to mine but to me RS3 is like Audi puts it out there for people who can't make up their mind to go all out in the TT-RS that they have to throw away a lot of practicalities and settle with more practical but half-ass sibling. RS3 is heavier, appointed by cheap looking interior like A3, sits higher, has tiny trunk (smaller than BMW 2 Series), and backseats that aren't that comfortable for grown-up men.

That is all true. I drove a TTRS last week and it was incredible. I can't even fathom how fast your modded RS must be. But yes, it's an Golf / S3 with a crazy motor. But it's otherwise fairly cheap. Back to S4 I go...

Amen. But we won't, and I think the RS5 Sportback is really weird and busy looking. So going back to an S4 (tomorrow) that I'll mod for looks, and then get a toy / sports car in a few years.
