    S6, Is it good enough?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My S6, with EPL Stage 1 tune... it goes, it is fast, there is not any other "normal car" that will keep up...

But I still miss the feel of my 2016 SS Camaro, if it was not because of total lack of family utility it has...

The S6, very comfortable, fast and nice riding, but.... numb. Am I out of sink?.

The wife is very happy though! Not something that I care much about.

I'm very happy with my S6, although I'm stage 2 and craving stage 3, I think it's a great balance of luxury with performance. Not to side track but I have a buddy who just picked up a hellcat charger and he took me for a ride, I'd be pissed to say the least if I bought one IMO. He want's to race and I keep trying to get him to the track but he's reluctant, just wants to "race", he seems pretty confident so I told him lets throw some money on it and go to the track.

Let’s see..... A higher quality car, more refined ride AND the whole family can be with you when you embarrass most other cars on the road. I’d call that a good move. Been there, done that with camaros and Corvettes in the past. Making the jump to German cars brought a MUCH better interior that doesn’t look like it was designed by Mattel and, once I purchased the Audi, AWD too.
Perhaps what you miss is being able to do burnouts? I’ll admit, occasionally I miss them too. But then I just hunt down (insert your favorite sports car name here) and blow his doors off! Satisfaction guaranteed. Replacing exhaust and downpipes will get you the sound, but mostly outside the car. It’s so well insulated that it’s almost too quiet from the interior. I even sold the M3 because it didn’t have that sweet V8 sound. Everyone has their own opinion about what car is best for them. For me, the S6 has a great balance of performance and power, while still comfortably taking 4 people to dinner on a Saturday night.

    S6, Is it good enough?

I get what your saying. I replaced front bumper with RS, lowered the car and threw bigger wheels on it. Looks are aggressive now but will do cross drilled rotors when I need a replacement and powder coat the calipers. That will make the car look right IMO. I also removed mufflers and resonator and the sound is awesome! My wife is not crazy about it but she drives the Yukon. Stage 3 is in the pipeline for a year or two out. By then a 10 second luxury car that looks amazing. Make the car your own. It has the potential that your Camaro did not have.

I have a C6 Z06 and the S6. The two vehicles go about generating speed very differently. The turbos on the S6 bring the power up very nicely and it is hard to "feel" the acceleration build. My Z06 hits very hard with torque and you feel the power. Very similar in the Camaro SS's I have driven as the torque delivery is noticeable and strong. Not saying the S6 isn't delivering, just that it comes up smoothly as the boost increases. My S6 is also Stage I EPL tuned and I am surprised at the speed readout sometimes as I get into it. Just doesn't seem like it is going that fast, but it is.

The control with Quattro is what I think makes the difference. MB and BMW now have selectable trans to go RWD and have fun. There will always be that difference with a naturally aspirated car vs turbos as well, throttle response and feel is more immediate with NA.

Go Stage III and you will brake all 4 loose much easier 😁

They're totally different cars with totally different feels. I know I'm going to catch a ton of shit for this, but if you truly want a German car that feels like an American muscle car, you need an AMG, specifically a 55k or n/a 6.2 car. Personally I love how civilized my Stage 2 S6 is, and it'll kill a 1st gen ZL1 from a dig or roll (2nd gen not so much). Audis put power down in such a drama-free way that someone who is used to a car that is a handful might be bored. Older AMGs are handfuls and fun in that respect, but don't expect an AMG to be as easy to drive or be as good in inclement weather.

I have a T Shirt that says "love many cars, and one good woman".

I love cars. I get sick of every car eventually and want something different. Its not because I don't like what I'm driving at the time, its because I can only afford one at a time, and I never seem to pay them off and keep them. You do you!

Haha... I posted a similar thread just now. It sounds like an RS5 might fit your bill. I'll keep my '67 Shelby clone for the times I really want to do the torque monster/ go fast/loud bit on weekends. BUT I definitely understand your sentiment.

One more vote to bring an RS6 to the States!

I understand what you mean. Before I got my S6 I had a 2014 C63 AMG Edition 507. I sold that and got the S6 because I needed something AWD and a little bit better on gas (averaged 14.5 mpg in the AMG from picking it up at factory to selling it). The C63 had so much more personality, better looks, great steering feel, and just sounded mean with the 6.2L NA engine with aftermarket exhaust. I regret selling it almost everyday. There have been several times having the AWD really stepped up for me.

I agree the car does feel numb. I've heard there are things from 034 Motorsports that help improve steering and may look into getting them over the summer to see if it helps any. Until then I just enjoy the massaging seats that I made sure to get.

think what youre missing is RAW power of american "muscle"....when jumping into a european machine it will be more "refined" and you wont notice the power delivery as much as in an american car made to give exactly this feeling....believe me, the Audi is still a beast, just hides it better. I still know my Jeep will crush my RS7, but which would i prefer as my DD...the RS7 of course. ;) if i want to feel RAW power and torque....the Jeep lays it down and shocks people when it does. lol

OK....wait..... WHAT? You have a Stage II RS7! Your SRT has to be modified then. Just my Stage I SHO will beat off line and then slowly lose ground to a stock Jeep SRT. My Stage II SHO walks a stock Jeep SRT.

I think we all know how eventually everything becomes "normal". If you want some craziness get stage 2 without cats and you will fall in love all over again. The car is fast though, youre just used to it by now.

Gotta say- at the track days I have been to in the last year since getting my S6, the guys in the 1LE are always the most serious and hardcore (outside of the multimillionaires in their GT3 being pulled by a color matched RR Sport SVR). That thing is a beast that can really race. Great chassis, sick engine.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am curious about the signs on your Camaro about not photographing or taking video. I assume you don’t want your insurance company having access to something like that? I see some people tape over their plates at the track. What does anyone else on here do at the track? Do you care about photographic evidence? Some of us can handle a full write off if something bad happens, some can’t. Not sure if that makes a difference. I buy track day insurance but never covered my plates. My insurance company is really damn anal too so I guess I wouldn’t want them knowing I track the car. Thanks for any feedback.

The new ZL1 1 LE or whatever that track specific one is, is great looking in person. I saw one at the gym with the big factory wing and everything. Saw what you want, but those cars are noooo joke. They would run circles around the RS7 on a track. Driving to work, on any surface, in any weather and well, the RS7 is going to smoke it much of the time. I suspect the same would be true of the S6 with a tune because it will be comfortable and you can actually hook up.

That said driving around a new ZL1 would be fun, no doubt about it.

Jeep crushing a stg.2 RS7!?! That must be one hell of a massaged SRT. Come on spill the beans, let's hear some details.

I find it very hard to believe. There are very few 9 second SRT Jeeps and that's what he'd need to 'crush' his Stage 2 RS7.

There seems to be a number of them in the 9's on dragtimes, even a couple in the 8's. I had no idea they were getting that fast.
