Contact the guy 65vettec6 (could be wrong spelling rs4 section usually parting out cars) he charged $250 for a rs4 steering rack. Car-part or steeringrack.com were like $850+. It’s a stupid easy job do not pay a shop or dealer to do this. It’s about 6-10 bolts total. The only tricky part is in doing the hoses, this is done by lifting car front up wheels off, pull the small plastic piece out from behind the drivers wheel, you can now get a ratchet style box end wrench (19 and 21 mm iirc) onto them the one is short on space so plan on a good amount of time cause you can only turn this 1/4 turn each time (unless you figure out something else). 3 bolts from below the car hold the rack, the tie rods both undo from axle assembly. Then grab a helper and slide it out the passengers side.
Then if you planned on spending $2200 I’ll gladly accept enough beer money for a long weekend. You know cause you should save almost $1600+!!
