Loss of volume control during bluetooth audio streaming

So this is happening on both my C7.5 S6 and my B9 S4. It does it to both my wife and I and I have a Google Pixel and she has an iPhone. Randomly at times we will try and turn up the volume while streaming music from our phones but the volume is sort of greyed out. The only solution I have found is to go to my bluetooth on my phone and turn it off and then back on. Seems weird though that it does it on two different brand phones on two different versions of MMI.

I have the same problem pixel XL 2 and 2016 s6. I have been rebooting the mmi to get it back. I have all sorts of problems with my Bluetooth phone connection on my pixel xl 2. Call audio randomly cuts out multiple times per call, dash call status shows "call ending" and then returns to the call time counter. I think it's the phone but have not had the time to verify.

Ive definitely seen some weird things with my 17. The 16 didnt do it, but it didnt have the new mmi that started in 17.
