Is there a way to have your footwell lighting on with the car running and the door closed. I just got red led lighting and would love for it to be on at all times the car is running.

Off the top of my head there is no easy way (like coding or jumping a single wire) since each footwell lights up individually based on each door being open with no central control via a body/lighting module on some of the later cars. So you would need to power each one individually off a relay from say the ignition or the head/parking lights.

For $3-5 you can get tiny little LED strips that you can cut to your preferred length (and adjust brightness). Then you just stick them up under there with 3m tape or a drop of crazy glue and jump the 12V wire off any dash illumination circuit. Drivers side has plenty to choose from, and the passenger side you can jump the power from the glovebox light, since it's only 12V live when the headlight switch is on.
    Easy and cheap.
To re-purpose the footwell lights that are already there IS possible, but you'd have to create a tricky circuit with diodes and relays to make it work.
