    Wheel size and offset clarification

Ok so someone school me on wheel size and offsets. My car has the CCB’s and I’m trying to find a set of wheels that will fit.

Here are the stock specs according to wheel-size.com

    8.5Jx19 ET46 Front

    8Jx19 ET42 Rear

A wheel that is the same size, 19x8.5 but with an offset of 42 will move the wheel out towards the fender gaining more caliper and strut clearance but with the possibility of fender poke depending on tire size for the front.

In the rear since the offset is the same but the wheel is a half inch wider it will be a little closer to the strut and a little further out towards the fender.

Am I correct in my assumptions or completely wrong?

Front will move out 46-42=4mm. Less that half a centimeter.

There is an 0.5 inch increase in wheel width. So, think of it as 0.25 inch increase on both sides of the wheel. Convert 0.25 inch to mm and that will be 6.35mm so the rear will move out that amount.

You still have to consider the spoke design... Some spoke designs just won't clear massive calipers without more offset.
