    Refurbishing the key fob?

    OK, now that my diff is fixed and I won't be returning the car, I can turn my attention to things I want to do to the car.

    I have both keys (non-advanced) that work perfectly, however they are both pretty beat. Can you buy new cases then swap the internals? Who sells them?

    I've seen many threads where people need to program replacement keys, but I'm just looking to replace the outside....

    The shells I've seen on Amazon/ebay don't have the S4 logo.

    You definitely can. A couple of years ago there were gloss (piano) black key fob covers available for purchase for the S and RS logo'd key fobs. I purchased a set and swapped the internals easily. I'm not home till next week or I would have snapped a pic of the covers. For some reason I can't find any images or anybody selling them. Maybe they were a limited run?


    Edit: Found an image, looks like this. I guess these are RS6 covers but they work on the RS5 key covers, so I imagine the S6/7 ones would work on the S4/5

    The older S4 key fobs were different then the new ones and the insides wont fit. what year is your car OP?
    2018 S6 Glaser white Black/Optics, Sport, ACC, HUD, CF, etc. NO bang/O

    2010-2012 had a smaller fob with the key chain hold on one side. the 2013-17 had a slotted grove and was larger.

    Correct, the RS fob pictured above is the newer one.

    In for information on this as well, my fob is beat and I'd like to swap the internals to a nicer housing.

    Searching all over gave me little to no results (other than some cheapie horribly fake looking ones off eBay).

    I've got a 2011 and I can confirm the internals will swap to newer keys without an issue same goes for the actual key part.
