A4/S4 Mirror Caps

I think the answer is yes but wanted to check with the experts. Are B6 A4 and B6 S4 drivers/passengers mirror caps and glass interchangeable? I know the whole part A4/S4 mirrors are interchangeable (you can put S4 mirrors on a A4 etc) but would there be any reason the mirror cap from an A4 wouldn't fit on a S4 mirror (part). Reason asking is I sourced a very cheap pair of S4 side mirrors (power folding, auto dim, heated, $50 for the pair) but the caps are cracked and one of the glass is scratched. The power folding works, mechanically they are fine but cosmetically they are a mess. My A4 mirrors are perfect cosmetically and have auto dim and heated but are not power folding so my plan is to get the S4 mirrors and swap my A4 mirror caps to the S4 part and also swap one of the mirror glass from the A4 part to the S4 part. Then install the S4 mirrors into my A4 so I have power folding along with heated and auto dim. Also the power folding function isn't part of the glass right? only the auto dim and heat is part of the glass whereas the power folding feature is in the mirror part itself? I did a search but had trouble finding something... Thanks.

They are interchangeable.

Both A4 / S4 power-folding mirror mechanisms have the same part number. The regular painted A4 mirror caps can also be specified on a B6/7 S4 at the time of ordering from new.

Carefull. There's heated, power folding and anti-dazzle assemblies that arent memory specific. So not the same as S4's. (10 wire count vs 14 in the harness iirc)

True, axis. Memory-specific power-folding, heated mirrors with anti-dazzle feature are also options on the A4, just the same way base mirrors can be had on the S4.

My ‘03 A4 Avant Quattro 1.8T 163 SE had power folding mirrors, that were heated, anti-dazzle and memory-specific. Had memory front seats too, and auto-dim rearview mirror.

It all depends on the specification from new.
