I suppose now is a good time to make a build thread after owning my car for 6months and doing a few mods. To start: It is a 2012 B8 S4 6MT, Phantom Black Pearl with the black leather interior. Fitted with nav, advanced key, sport rear diff, bang & olufsen, rear view camera / parking sensors. I've been in the VW scene for a few years (Coming from a MK4 Jetta GLI, this S4 was a major upgrade for me)

October 2017:
I bought the car with just 44k miles on it from Douglas VW in Summit, NJ where seemingly a previous AudiZine member traded in the car (as noted by the AZ stickers that were already on the rear quarter windows). I was hoping to find the PO on here but no luck as he has probably moved on and never checks these forums anymore, lol. It had some previous light mods (Plastidipped wheels, VIM was enabled, green menu was enabled, it is hard-wired for a radar detector, and had the dipstick installed).
Shortly after I bought the car I went to work making it mine. I removed the plastidip off of the factory wheels as it was not my taste, and put on the front filler plate (Which I had to order even before picking up the car lol) to get rid of the front plate bracket.






November 2017:
I had the front windows tinted to 15% to match the rear windows (I believe the PO had the front windows tinted but the dealership had to remove it as front tint is illegal in NJ). As well as ordered the AWE track exhaust for it on black Friday. At some point during November I had a paint correction done to the car and had Gtechniq Ceramic Coating applied to the car for protection.




December 2017:
I REALLY wanted factory bluetooth and the B8 MMI just felt a little too outdated for me, so I bit the bullet and bought the B8.5 MMI swap. After a quick trip to my friend at the dealer to remove the component protection, it was in and working! Also I caved and put on the track exhaust (I was going to wait until spring to install it just so I wouldn't have to subject it to salt and what not, but I just could not wait)



Fast forward to April 2018:
The crunch to get it ready for show season is upon us. Yearly I go down to Helen, GA to what was SoWo Before it got kicked out of the town, now it's SoWhat. Over winter I bought a set of factory S4 peelers with shot tires, and then proceeded to buy a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 255/35/ZR19, as well as an 034 Motorsport 25MM solid rear sway bar, and H&R Sport springs just to close that wheel gap a bit and help it handle even better. That all went on last weekend and my #sowoprep is just about complete!








And with that, this thread is up to date for now anyway. Plans for the car include:
Unitronic Stage 2 Single Pulley tune (Will go Dual Pulley when the tune is released)
Upgraded cooling
Upgraded clutch whenever that goes out, I'm sure the stage 2 dual pulley will not be nice to it lol
Some aftermarket wheel is a must (Possibly BBS Ci-R)
034 drivetrain mounts
Eurocode AluKruez (spelling?)
CR15
USP SS Clutch line

How is your ride with the track exhaust?

I am in the same boat as you with a 6MT and have the same plans for mods....i'll be subscribed watching your mods. My warranty isn't up until June 2019...so i can't mod squat until then. Either way i'm collecting parts.

No plans for an intake? Also super curious on if you get any drone w/ the track exhaust and the 6MT. I've resigned myself to saving up for the Touring exhaust at some point but if I could save a few bucks or whatever then I'd be super happy to do that!

It's not too complicated if you already have nav on your B8. You need to buy the center console controls, and the main head unit. It's just a matter of swapping them out (they're plug and play, no extra wiring), and then going to the dealer to get the component protection removed. For me personally the drone is not bad at all. I hear a lot of people complain about it but I can't say I find myself in the same boat. The only place I notice it drones is if the car is loaded up (say going uphill) and is in the 2-3k rev range. For example if I'm on the highway in 6th gear, cruising I don't hear anything. But if traffic slows down and I have to speed up or if I'm going uphill or something I notice it, but all I do is downshift and bring the revs above 3k and its fine. It's manageable IMO. I usually stay around 80 on the highways and it's never a bother. Around town I'm usually in lower gears and I never hear it.

I have been going back and forth on an intake for a while. I feel like the supercharger noises would get annoying to me lol

Put spacers in over the weekend. 10mm front and 12.5mm rear.

The track is definitely loud, lol. If that's a concern I'd go with Touring. You can always convert to a track set up later if you decide you want it a bit louder.

I've thought about it. I'm not really a fan of the style of most rear diffusers available for this car :/ It would look good with the spoiler though. I would LOVE S5 peelers but they're too expensive, lol.

It is incredible. Between the springs, sway bar and tires the car is a completely different animal and it's insane.

Not really much has changed. Went to a few shows here and there. Recently went on a road trip down to Myrtle Beach. Bought a set of whispbars so I could mount a cargo box my family had laying around (not the prettiest or most aerodynamic box around but it gets the job done lol). Also took advantage of P3cars sale on their Multi Gauge and bought the Multigauge with the track pack and analog boost sensor in prep for my tune and heat exchanger upgrade. This is a gauge I've always wanted but couldn't bring myself to buy, but I'm glad I went for it!

Not yet, no! Been putting away money for it because I'm torn on what path I wanna go, lol. Either go in steps Stage 1 -> Single Pulley stage 2 -> Dual pulley stage 3 + upgraded heat exchanger and eventually clutch when it gives up. Or just go straight to stage 3...

I would go right to dual pulley and heat exchanger. Im getting APR dual pulley and APR heat exchanger installed tomorrow.. taking advantage of APR's ECU/TCU sale.

Got the tune and pulley and got it all installed over the weekend and holy crap the car is a rocket now. I can't imagine what it's gonna be like when I go dual pulley in the spring :D (0-60 could be much improved but needs my pilot super sports back on lol)

Wow I haven't updated this since I went Single Pulley 2+. Well I am Stage 3 Dual Pulley now, lol. Installed the crank pulley as well as a Merc Racing Heat Exchanger 2 weeks ago. I was given a roc euro intake over the winter so that was installed. I have gutted cuts and a Sachs Xtend clutch kit waiting to go in. The car was on the dyno yesterday and made 395awhp/376awtq on a mustang dyno: https://youtu.be/zE0H9bxom3M
