    Motul 8100 XCess vs Specific

Any reason I should go with one vs. the other in my RS5? The Specific is 505.1/502.00 and so is the XCess. The XCess is further certified for Porsche, BMW and Mercedes while Specific isn't. Both cost exactly the same but the XCess mentions modern cars, high power to displacement ratios, etc..probably some marketing hype there but there has to be some difference in the additive package. Both meet VW's standards for the RS5.

I've already used Specific for about 4K miles and I had to go in for my Audicare service where they obviously switched it back to Castrol. I'll be changing back to Motul in 5k miles and I may do a Blackstone test of the Castrol at that time.

I went back to Castrol as I had one Audicare left and I can definitely say that Motul makes the engine run more quietly. I'll be trying XCess next change. I go 5K between changes.

I run Xcess in my 4.2 S5 religiously. I could not find significant enough difference between Xcess and Specific to justify using specific (if my memory serves correct Specific is a few bucks more expensive). Can confirm the better quality oil affects engine noise, I've run both Castrol and T6 in my car and it got way louder.
