    Oil Burning when WOT

I've lived with this and I am fine with it but curious if anyone knows why the car smells like burning oil after accelerating hard for even getting on the gas a bit. Never bothers me, but when I have people in the car it is always commented on. Thoughts?

Have you checked for an oil leak?

Well the cabin air pickup is under the hood plenum, on the passenger side, just in front of the glove box. So the oil burning smell is entering there.

Sounds like you may have an oil or gas leak somewhere under the hood. This could be a safety concern. I would say if you can't investigate the potential leak on your own, take it into a shop to get it checked out.

I am not leaking any oil. I recently did timing and overhauled almost every maintenance item in the car. I’ll be coming up on two years of the car doing this and I haven’t had an issue. I’ve looked it up multiple times and all I can see is that it says it’s normal. I also have a double cabin air filter setup with one in the engine bay so I don’t know anymore :p

You say you're not leaking oil, but it wouldn't take much to create an odour if it's hitting hot surfaces and burning off. One possible place to check is the bottom side of the turbo, around the oil line. You need to be under the car to check this.

I feel you. If you saw the list of things I replaced on my car you would understand. I was under it for a 4 days straight (not kidding) I have no leaks. I also have the ECS shield and there is no debris on it

Sometimes you just have to think out of the box, is there a crack hose somewhere?

I agree with that. This is a two year thing. If something was broken it would manifest itself. Makes me want to think it’s the turbo

Maybe you’re just sending it too hard. I’ve grown to love that smell. Hfc or test pipe maybe?

I do have a HFC, but that was a recent addition. If Utah hadn’t decided to return back to winter and snow I was going to look some more this weekend

Could be some hfc smell. When I did the hfc and dp install, I get the occasional whiff of that fresh 93.

3 weeks ago. I definitely get some of that smell especially because it’s heat wrapped but only when the windows are open. I can have climate control off, car sealed, and I will still get my turbo oil burning smell

I’d throw the beauty on a lift, check underneath for any oil, let the car cool down and feel around the seal from the hfc to the turbo.

The seal from the HFC to the turbo is good as it is new and the problem existed years before the HFC was on. I have checked and still no oil leaks (I need a scientist)

On my B6, this turned out to be oil leaking past the seal, into the turbo. A Garrett GT2871R ended up fixing the issue.
