Replace Climatronic Controller with ... ?

I have a new HU being installed tomorrow - Pioneer AVH-4201NEX.
I believe that part of the functionality is that it can be used to control the HVAC functions in the car - but it unclear if that is available in the B7s.

IF it is - I would probably remove the Climatronic controller (pity, I just got installed one in mint condition to replace the banged up one that was in the car when I bought it) ... but that begs the question of what do you fill the gap that would be left with?

This could be a moot point. The climate controls might not be accessible via the canbus ... but if they are, does anyone have links to accessories I could fill the gap with?

TBH - I am guessing the climate controls wont be replaceable ... otherwise I'd be seeing cubby hole accessories and similar available as aftermarket items.

I have looked at this unit too. If it would control the HVAC unit, I would happily junk the stock control panel / display in my 2003 B6.
