IPP Arms: Good idea or bad?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I am now in the process of learning a new platform. Picked up a 2003 allroad. While the idea of the IPP arms seems like a it would offer an extended range of adjustability I also wonder if that extended range would place additional stress on the suspension components, namely the air struts.

For those of of you that have them, can you comment on how long you have been running them and what you like or don't. For those of you that used to have them, but ditched them, why did you get rid of them?

    Thanks.

Had them on since December. Low end is a little rough but that is a product of your shocks and general vehicle shape.

No problems with entire range of travel through the winter but am just trying level 1 now since it's warming up.

I would do it again, as of this point, especially with 18"+

I've been runnin em for roughly a year and a half. Love em! My thoughts are: factory level one, while in summer mode (19 inch wheels) was just a bit too tall yet however, I struggled with the idea of the 402 mod essentially lowering all 4 levels across the board. After all, I picked the allroad for its "swiss army knife" versatility, allowing me to strap a snowboard rack on the roof in the winter, blast off to the slopes with gobs of ground clearance if needed, while lowering her back down in the summer months and still maintaining a proper stance. IPP leveling arms allow the "best of both worlds" scenario. You can essentially maintain a factory level 3-4 while achieving a lower level 1 for the summer months. Super happy with my decision!

With all that being said, Its paramount all maintenance is up to date.
IF your control arms are currently fried, clunking around town, obviously, lowering it further will further dramatize these ill effects.
IF you are currently working with a weak compressor pump, obviously, raising and lowering the cycles further will work the pump that push harder, potentially revealing its weak points.
I made it a point to rebuild pump (bagpipingandy.com kit) as well as replace all of the upper/lower control arms prior to IPP leveling arms and she rides like a dream. Slightly bouncy on level 1 however that's to be expected.
If you have realistic expectations and stay within the limits (not go too extreme 402ing up/down) you will most likely be stoked. Hope this helps! N8.

Thanks for the replies. Car is new to me so thinking about a few things. Have to iron out a couple of kinks. Not surprised that settings that push the factory equipment tax there lives, just trying to figure out if it’s worth it.

depends on what you want from your allroad. I personally wanted a slightly lowered stance for looks and performance, but also wanted to be able to get up my friends awful logging road of a driveway so I needed the ability to raise up still and the higher the better with his road
since it has nasty potholes/ruts and things. theyre also really inexpensive, and totally reversible if you decide against it later on.
