air bag recall finally comes to Canada recall 6P96

Finally got my letter to contact my dealer ASAP to have my air bag replaced. Im sure there will be no inventory but i guess i will get on a list.

I wonder if they will break my glove compartment door while they are doing it . lol

I booked my wife's car yesterday, she's in for the 23rd.. they were booking two weeks out. Finally glad it's getting done!

just got the 69R6 driver inflator (put on a waiting list to change they told me its different some how)

Got mine done at Audi Midtown about a week ago. I booked the appointment the same day I got the letter. Soonest I could get the appointment was two weeks from when I called.

I waited for mine and it took two hours from driving in to driving out.

Pretty certain it's only passenger side inflator replacement at this time; that's what was done on my Avant.

So as of today 10:00 am the 6p96 ignitor are no longer available. This was I believe released last week from Audi. Those are now obsolete and the “final fix” has been finalized and will be released at a later date (unknown). So I’m now on a list, to go onto a list. And it seems it’s designed but likely not yet built but that’s just my guess.

Now those who have the 6P96 ignitor are fine but, they all luckily will likely get a new bag also when the bags become available. I’m wondering have any of you who have the 6P96 bag have another date set to replace? Or was this made known at your last appointment for replacement? I’ve heard that many were told at the dealer. Which is great. Some may want to contact the dealer and ask if they have a list to get on a list.....

yup just got me letter ... my new recall is 69R7

the permanent fix is here .. so I'm back on the list for a complete airbag. I'm thinking another 3 months will tick by.

temporary fix was replace ignitor
permanent fix is replace entire Airbag unit.

Recall done ... apt was for 10:30 walked out at 11:30 with new airbag, car washed and interior detailed.

So the list I was added too actually worked nicely. I’m set to have the new replacemt done next Friday at Kingston Audi. Finally I’ll be able to have passengers in my car!!

I had this done a couple weeks ago in Oshawa. I pulled out glovebox before I took it to them. It took a couple hours and seemed pretty straight forward.

So dropped it off on Thursday, got a call Friday at noon (Travis) “we’re working away and noticed some things so we did a ## inspection” I think great just what I needed an inspection I didn’t need, he continues “your all out of alignment and camber is not near OEM” I respond “about 3% of that car is still oem have a look at the interior and body, that’s all that’s no longer OEM” he laughs “we kinda noticed, so shall we do an alignment?” Response “will you agree with me now to do it to my specs?” (Travis) “how crazy” me, “yes or no?”, Travis “he’ll why not”. So I gave them my preferred camber and we chatted a bit more about the missile then they offered me $50 offthe alignment.

Not too bad a deal and free install of new wiper blades! First awesome experience I’ve had with a dealer (until I see the bill)

Few days till I can pick her up but it’s now time to I think strip out the interior and install FBSW as well as racing seat. Now that I have air bags it’s time to change the interior!

Mines still at the stealership. I’m assuming they decided they needed to scan as I have a cell on. Likely they tried something ECU related and have to now figure out how to get it running again.

I just called my dealer and said I had a notification in the myAudi app about an airbag service and something about the rear speaker trim. They said "sure thing, bring it in any time and we'll have it taken care of in about 90 minutes". I brought it in, they did everything in less than 90 minutes and I was on my way.
