For sale: Used APR 4.0T Downpipes

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had these on my car for approx. 16 months. They have a few scrapes on them from the removal process (visible in the photos), which I did in my garage. Stage 2 APR tune will not be included.

I had these on an S8, which has different fitment to the exhaust than the other 4.0 models. So I had custom flanges welded on right on after the cats. I will include the other sides of the flanges, which are welded to a foot or so of mandrel bent 3” stainless steel pipe. But note that the connection to your exhaust will not be bolt-on; you will need to take it to a muffler shop to get connected.

Also included are a pair of Vibrant J-style O2 sensor spacers.

Pics below. Please make me an offer via PM, assuming I will pay the shipping out of the purchase price.

Chris, I'm contemplating replacing my C7 S6 with a S8 if the C8 S6 doesn't impress me. I'm APR Stage 2 and was considering keeping the DPs and installing them on the S8 if I went that route. Any particular reason you're getting rid of them? I saw your post regarding the difficulties in mating them to the S8 and that you wouldn't do it again.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I am selling my car and de-modding first. The mating difficulties for an S8 are not bad; I just didn’t think they made enough power on the S8 to justify the price. Other platforms gain more. The S8 gets 20hp with the pipes and the tune, which isn’t much for a 4600 lb car.

I am sad I sold it. This was a divorce for sure. Really painful. But I want a much faster daily driver and don't see the aftermarket opening up for these cars any time soon. As it was, after throwing a bunch of parts at it I couldn't even get it back to what it had been running. Misfires and cutting out even on the stock map, getting much worse when I try the race gas maps. I went to the 1/8 mile strip last month on my 93 stage 2 map and ran the same times as an RS7 on stock tune with just custom downpipes. That would have been a close run even when my car was running clean.

It's very difficult to find a quality alternative to APR for tuning, APR doesn't spend any time on S8s anymore, there aren't many aftermarket parts available, no one has figured out how to run well with those parts anyway, and even if I could make big power from the car there would be a lot of other issues to deal with to hit the proper times. I have a plan now that doesn't involve Audi, but I'm sure I'll be back several cars in the future.

Appreciate the info brother. In my case, I already have the downpipes so the price doesn’t worry me, but your overall experience makes me wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze. Increasingly the E-63 wagon is looking more appealing. Good luck with the new car and for any S6 owners, this is a smoking deal. No issues with the APR downpipes/software on my C7 S6!

The long standing tradition of APR is to spend a short time tuning a car til the market for that model slows or loses it's premium price tag, then move on to other models never to return again. Right now they're quickest on S/RS 6 and 7 though. I'm hoping UM breaks into 4.0T world soon.
