The panamera turbo hands down. The only downside with the Panamera, is that the new one is rolling around the streets and it's so much better looking than the outgoing model. The RS7 is still looking the same and it's a looker.

First gen panamera is like the ugly duckling of porsches for me, so I'd take rs7 - obviously just an opinion. Can't go wrong with a nice twin turbo german v8 though, either is a great freeway missile. My ex gf's mom drives a Panamera Turbo though - just food for thought.

I personally can't stand the look of the Panamera. Can't deny that it moves though. I'd go for the RS7. It looks fantastic and for a bigger car it's a missile and handles like a much smaller car.

The first gen Panamera is one of those cars that looks better in person, but still nowhere close to the newest version. That's a tough call, OP.

I've never driven either so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I have however sat back and forth between an RS7 and Panamera Turbo next to each other. I think exterior, RS7 hands down. Interior however, Panamera has more of that rocketship cockpit feel. I think a lot of that is due to the rear seats. They look so aggressive.

I think exhaust note is better on the RS7 but that is certainly my opinion. I like the more understated feel of an RS7 because only car enthusiasts will know whats up. But some people like the flashyness. I would say if you haven't already, test drive both on the same day. you should know.

But if you want my honest advice, keep the RS4 forever

It would be RS7 all the way for me......

First gen Panamera is the opposite of an attractive car as people have mentioned, but further to this; I have a good friend with an RS7 that is bone stock aside from an APR flash and the thing is a serious rocket ship. Prior to him getting the APR flash I was at a dyno day with him locally here in Vancouver and another acquaintance was there with a tuned Panamera Turbo. The stock RS7 put down significantly stronger numbers vs. Panamera; Porsche guy was not pleased.

But ya, further to this in regards to our RS4's - same RS7 friend has borrowed my car on couple of occassions (traded for his 993 TT which is not a bad exchange for me! haha) and he always comes back with such raving review/high praise for the B7 RS4. So we are not all crazy on the kool aid; there is something very special about our cars.

I was in the same boat last year...
Decided to keep the RS4 and get a S6(2014)!
A year later, and I am very happy with my decision, specially after tuning the S6!

Which ever car you do go with...
You won't miss the RS4 as much as you think...
I couldn't imagine not having a manual car last year... but there is no denying, the auto (sequential) transitions superior to the 6 spd manual... which has now made me think that I could go without manual and possibly sell the RS4!

Yes you will trust me. We all know the RS4 is not the be all end all in performance, tech etc, but you will quickly realise that there is no other car like it. I sold my old RS4 to a friend and every time I was in it I was reminded about how special this car is. Not taking away from the RS7 (or Panamera) if that's the route you decide to go but other than the ridiculous speed the newer cars achieve, you will crave the raw(ish), rare, amazing driving experience the RS4 gives you! I truly think this car will be with me forever, and that's saying a lot given I go change cars like underwear!

I would agree, Ginch. I can't say that I have driven every car out there, but I have driven a decent amount, and I fell madly in love with the RS4 simply because of the driving experience.

But again its all personal preference so I'm not going to be pushing my opinion on anyone. With that said, the car is certainly not the fastest. But the feeling you get walking out to the wide-bodied RS4, then hearing that whine come from the V8, I just feel as if theres not many cars that present a similar feeling. But some people like the high tech understated rocketship feel. Which certainly comes from the Panamera/RS7.Either way good luck with your purchase. When all said and done, you can't go wrong with performance driven Audi/Porsche.

To me Panamera hands down, my 2012 normally aspirated v8 Panamera S averaging almost 30 mpg on a trip from LA to OC. There was the time to get to the freeway and time off to get to my destination. I was blown away by the efficiency of this automobile. And having the sport exhaust enabled, for sure the exhaust note sounds better than my RS4. Best car I owned. I would even say a little better than my 2014 991 C4S. Sure it looks fugly but amazing car.

I just sorely wised it was in stick!!! IMG_5126.JPG

Been toying with the idea of adding a 2014 RS7 to the garage as of late. Can't stand Panamera look, so I'm biased. But my father has a new pana 4S and loves it.

Why not keep the RS4 and add one of those? If you absolutely must dump the RS4 understandable but if your shopping an RS7 or Pana, it should be feasible.

The RS4 is like Michael Jordan's shot against Utah in game 6 to win his 6th title. Absolute perfection at the end of a historic era and something we will never see again. Other players may surpass him in stats but there will never be a other MJ.

Don’t enjoy the look of either, but I really like the 6. S6 gets the 4L TT too :)

I'm about to trade my RS7 for a Panamera Turbo S this weekend. A very low mileage 2012 with everything on it.

I spent a lot of time in the Panamera, and I actually love the way they look, even if a bit awkward. The short of it is, that the Panamera feels much more like a sports car, than the RS7, and has a much higher end interior, but the only real reason I'm trading is, I found the perfect deal on a PTTS, and I've always wanted to drive one for a while. I am in no way unsatisfied with the RS7, and in fact there is a 99% probability, that after a year or so, I'll be back in an 2016 RS7 Performance. I just tend to change cars often, and enjoy the hunt of finding good deals, and once in a while even making my money back! The thrill of the hunt

100% the RS7 has a better feeling transmission and motor. It has smoother shifting and the gearing is just perfection with the 4.0TT. That's why the 2017 Panamera turbo has that engine now basically!
100% the Panamera Turbo is tighter, less floaty, more stable at speeds, never feels like its getting loose, is more nature and comfortable taken it its limits, and has considerably better steering.
100% I think the looks of the RS7 are just slightly better from most angles, and is less controversial.
100% the Porsche has a presence on the road, and better overall build quality right down to the body panels and how the doors close.
100% if I were buying brand new, I'd get the RS7, and probably wait for the next gen, next year. The Porsche is honestly very overpriced from a MSRP standpoint.

The have nearly identical general everyday performance to 100mph, and daily driving utility with the 4-door coupe hatchback design. You couldn't go wrong with either of these cars. After a few months in the Panamera, I'll post a comprehensive review.

The Audi is a luxury car built for performance.
The Porsche is a performance car, built with luxury.
Love many cars, but only one woman.

The first gen Panamera is certainly ugly, but depreciation has made them pretty attractive and they drive very well, probably a bit better than an RS7.

Also, you don't have to look at the heinous exterior when you're behind the wheel. Another plus.

You could also get an s8 plus as the new ones are fairly cheap due to the fact that the older generation will buy them and offload them with little miles and it has the same engine as the rs7. The s8 is also a quatttro gmbh car just food for thought.
