Are you guys checking your cam followers/fuel tapets?

Having gone through a blown follower on a B7 and experiencing first hand the lasting ill-effects, I'm gearing to check mine and probably replacing real soon.
I've been aware the B8's have a roller type follower and still remain weary of that point - putting a roller on the tapet doesn't bring me any conciliation.

Any of you checking your followers or know of any incidents of failure?

I had a B7. Checked my cam follower religiously. I've never looked at it on my B8 and it's got 93,000 miles on it. On this car it's the cam chain tensioiner, timing chain, cam bridge, even the rear main seal is somewhat of a problem from what I read.

it functions the same way you would expect flat tappet vs roller cam engines work. I had my HPFP out at 100k and the roller looked brand new. I have a brand new one in box here that i dont think im ever going to use. lol

The B7 cam follower turns in its housing as well as reciprocates and the roller type on our B8-B8.5 is stationary with the exception of the plunging and the spinning roller. The little roller gives me the heebiejeebies...I gotta swap a new one in this month. Don't ever want to go through it again.
