    particulate filter is coming..

    Yep like I say...
Since September 2017 new models have to comply with the 10/11 standard,
from September 2018 all newly sold cars have to comply with a GPF (particulate filters for petrol cars)
So probably soon the RS3 will get a particulate filter for the new emission Euro 6c-norm standard.
My biggest concern is how the sound will be influenced by this !!

Diesels have had them (Diesel Particulate Filters) since 2008. It is a literal trap in the exhaust to catch particulates (the soot on your tailpipes). I don't know how in the gasoline world it will work yet, but in diesels they eventually clog, then the vehicle goes through a regeneration process using the fuel system to cook the thing clean with extreme heat (like a self cleaning oven) but this can only be done so many times before the DPF eventually needs to be replaced, typically at a cost of multiple thousands of dollars. There are also added sensors before and after the DPF to measure how clogged it is, and more. It is a major PITA.

Its one of the reasons there are few aftermarket TDI exhaust systems or really any that sound good.
