Can old vagcom cable used on an S4 work on the RS3?

    Folks,

Probably very idiotic question but I was wondering if an old cable (used on my S4 B8) would work on the RS3? Obviously I'm thinking I'd need some sort of software upgrade/change but just wondering if anyone ever did this.

    Thanks,

If you have the older HEX+CAN Vagcom cable, you can try it. However, some of the modules on the RS3 may not show up because they require access from the newer HEX-V2 Vagcom instead.

I use the hex+can on my rs3. It works fine for logging the engine and for reading fault codes. I have not used it for any coding yet.
There is one module in the auto scan list that shows up in red with a msg saying cable is to old.
Don’t know if there is some modules I don’t see coz I have nothing to compare it to.

what zcspec said is correct. you will have some functionality is most modules but some will require the upgraded cable.

Don't expect much ability to alter the light set functions in the RS3 or many in central electric. there appears to be a change made by Audi that doesnt appear to have a work around at this time.

All logging capabilities seem to be available.
