Intake Options

Morning All,

I have read various threads on this, but I have a rather specific question in relation to my choice of intake and I would greatly value thoughts on this.

On my previous Audi, a stage 2 A6, I ran a Roc Euro intake. When I was on the power, I was perfectly ok with the volume created by it (principally s/c whine). However, I did find that when driving in a more relaxed mode, I found the whine a bit intrusive.

I see that I have a few different options, but based on the above scenario, who has fitted what and how do they find the sound when not using the loud pedal with vigour?

I have the ECS Luft Technik for about 6 months now and it's very quiet when not accelerating. Almost not noticeable from in the car. Even when pushing it with the windows down I didn't find it noisy at all.

The bottom line is an open style is going to have a lot more volume. Any intake kit (or just filter) that uses an enclosure or the stock enclosure is going to be a lot quieter.

I just got a Eurocode which is a filter for the stock box and a silicone tube. I did open up the lower forward facing enclosure. There is a little whine at 5k and above but not much. Otherwise quiet.

I have a very loud car already (modified 89 mustang) I LOVE the QUITE S5.

I second this. I have had the ECS for about a year now. Had a CTS open element w/o any shield before, and found it just a little too much volume. The ECS with the cover is more to my liking - nice sound when you are on it, but very subtle or even not noticeable most of the time.

I drove next to a S4 who had a Roc Euro yesterday and it sounded amazing. Does the CTS sound comparable to the Roc Euro?

The flap simply snaps out and it was 5-10 minutes of Dremel work.

Roc Euro gives a bit more whine. My brother-in-law went with Roc Euro on his S4 after hearing mine on my S5. If you don't like cars to make fun noises, it's not the right choice, but if a supercharger whine puts a smile on your face it's the right choice.

No, I have Roc Euro. His neighbor had CTS, and after hearing both he opted for Roc Euro. I don't have any sound clips with CTS since I've never had it in my own car, but I've got a couple in-car ones of my own with Roc Euro.
