Timing code p0346 and ticking sound

    Hello all
Last week i started my rs6 for the first time after a big teardown.
All timing was done. Belt and rollers, Chains and pads.
Started and ran great after first start up. Ran for a minute or so
We cleared all codes and started it for the second time after an hour or so. We ran it for a bit and then we discovered a large oil leak and shut the car off. We also noticed a ticking sound from the passenger valve cover.
When we checked for codes we only got one. P0346. Camshaft position sensor.
The oil leak is fixed now.
However. What could cause the code other than the timing it self. The timing is just done by a professional shop. They also said that if the timing was off, it wouldnt run so smooth as it did.
They also did the valve seals.
Any ideas about the code and the ticking noise. The noise wasnt loud but still loud enough to scare me.
Im thinking that these are seperate issues and im more worried about the sound than the code right now. The engine is out right now. What would you guys recommend me to check and what are your thoughts on this?
    Any help greatly appreciated
    Joris

do you by chance know the condition of the timing chain tensioner pads? or the tensioners themselves? timing may be correct however if the tensioners have failed or are failing it'll cause the chain to slap a bit. but without hearing it myself its hard to say.

Yes. Sorry no video. Pads are new and tensioners were inspected and look good. They also dont commonly fail i believe. Just talked to my mechanic. He thinks tge ticking is from the lifters because they probably didnt have enough presure yet. The code is from the driver side and the ticking was from passenger side

maybe not commonly but they do fail. ive had it happen. ticking from unpressurized lifters shouldn't last more than a second or two in my experience.

Strange that they would fail after the chains were done tho. I dont think these are the problem right now. Im almost done with the reinstall of the engine. Ill run it and see what happens.

So ran again tonight. The ticking sound has disappeared. But the code keeps coming back. However. The engine light goes off when i start the car.
