Background
I am finally back in an audi after far too long and I could not be happier with my recent purchase! When I was looking into what I wanted to purchase I was set on a b8.5 s4, but when I saw my Cab I fell in love (so did my fiancé….happy wife happy life right?!) Purchased my car from CarMax and includes a 100k 60mo warranty, and dealing with carmax was honestly the easiest process ever. There were a couple things I pointed out that needed to be fixed and they were more than willing to fix them for free!

Car does not have sports diff, but it was honestly not a deal breaker as it is a cab and I wanted B&O with black leather seats (Plus anything is an upgrade from a Toyota Camry)

Tint Install and Dechromed

Went in for tint and a dechrome yesterday. I decided to do a 5% strip on the windshield due to the sun visors being so small.


I love the way everything turned out. I am planning on either powdercoating or plastidiping the peelers gloss black.

RS grille will be here mid may and I plan on doing the RS fog light conversion. Carbon badges also on the way, but it does look clean without them.

I also decided to go with gloss black side skirts along with mirrors. The quartz gray looks amazing with the black contrast. I know the mirror wrap might not be for everyone haha

Monday I go in for B8.5 shift knob install purchased from forum member @PeteRock (thanks again!). I am also having H&R springs and 15/20mm spacers installed all by ModBargains.










Puddle lights

Puddle light projectors for a cheap upgrade they really update the look of the car. Install was a breeze only took about 5 mins.

I did have a little issue of the passenger side being flipped, but just took off the lens and rotated it 180 degrees.





H & R Spacers and Springs

Ended up running 15mm front and 20mm rear. I love how it looks more stances now on the 19s. Springs will settle and will only look better . (She needs a bath haha)

Everything is coming a long nicely.

Tomorrow I’m going to install the RS grille







I enjoy the little upgrades maybe more than big upgrades. Ended up going with USP paddle extenders, so I could finally reach the paddles (instead of the tiny standard paddles)

1. What are the options for wrapping aluminum parts on interior? (ie. mmi surround/gauge cluster)

2. How do I know what version MMI I have?

3. Is there any way to upgrade the camera or MMI display so that the resolution is increased?

4. Where is the best place to buy an upgraded B8.5 S5 DSG shift knob?

5. Where can I buy a new wind deflector my cabriolet?

6. Where is the best place to buy new floor mats as mine are just generic non-Audi mats?

7. Do the EBay supercharger badges look decent or should I shell out the extra money for OEM badges?

8. Does anyone have a picture of trim that has been wrapped black for a B8 Cabriolet with black wheels?

9. What options are available for black exhaust tips?

10. Best place to purchase ECODES or is there a way to replace reflectors?

11. Options for trunk lips and are there carbon fiber lips available?

In the classified here and other Audi forums. Ebay Mine broke and I had to replace it. Going price is around 100 so just keep watching. Search ebay under wind blocker, deflector ..... Also search ebay uk. for some reason they sell a lot of them over there. Mosrt will not ship to US but a few will. Even with shipping, I saw a few that were just about a good deal.

7. Do the EBay supercharger badges look decent or should I shell out the extra money for OEM badges?

I would get ebay. I have a new set on the way in a different color. They are all made in china

11. Options for trunk lips and are there carbon fiber lips available?

I was in the same boat. I just put on a carbon fiber RS5 on my S5 2014 cab. There are two Audi accessory spoilers but none of the Audi brochures/online had a good picture. One is smaller and the other is a bit bigger. I really had considered the bigger one but bit on the RS5 and I am glad I did.

I read a lot of posts on various forums as to what fits and the trunk differences. A5 is different from S5. Cab is different from coupe and some threads say facelift is different from pre.

I recently did a google search and did some quick reading on a couple threads. They mentioned stripping the scratched antiglare coating and applying a a new antiglare sheet. The make them for the Audi MMI.

No. Yes you can change to LED, HID or just a different temperature to better match the headlights

15. Do any companies make a RS style grill with a Quattro (picture included) for the B8 s5?

I was wondering if there were better price options for wind deflectors (No way am I paying $300 for one). Good to hear about supercharger badges as well.

The spoiler will be a hard decision, it also depends on if I want to go aggressive or not.

The S5 Cab never had the 4.2. It was introduced in 2010 with the 3.0 SC 👍🏼

I have been searching around just find it difficult at times to find exactly what I want and I wanted to get some questions answered for reference. Another reason why I picked up a 2011 cab as well, since it has the 3.0T. I test drove the 4.2, but it had about double the mileage.

The mirrors are definitely lower on my list of wants haha, but I guess we will see.

Car came back from convertible top repair! It turned out great and Carmax covered the cost! They also replaced my carbon center counsel, which they covered as well.

Tomorrow I go in for tint and dechroming.

Friday springs and spacer will go on along with the new B8.5 shift knob!

So happy to be back!

RS Quattro grille is on the way, along with rs style fogs.

I am going to do the rear diffuser in a week. I ran out of time, but they will finish up soon. The shop is also going to wrap my silver mmi trim gloss black too.

I know how you feel... I scrape now going into my garage (with springs). Now I have to reverse into the garage to get around it haha. I’m sure my springs will settle down more too.

iv owned them since new, had them clear bra'ed, and sold to tony. i dont even think hes driven with it on much since he got it. so they should still be minty as iv taken care of them :) def glad to see it go to a good home!

Thanks for selling them in the first place! Question for you though installed them fine, but not sure if high beams work? Do you have to plug them in somewhere? There is also a connection that wasn’t in the american headlights but in the ecodes, what does it go to?

huh. i never noticed that. so its safe to say i never plugged that in, just the basic transfer of the ballast and the main connector behind the light. highbeams works. urs done? there wasnt any special plug for that IIRC

Haha ok! Must be something for euro cars?? High beams do work just tried them last night haha! I was confused on high beams as I thought that this light was the high beam...

Finally got around to installing a subwoofer.

Went with a high output enclosure tuned to 32hz. Everything turned out great and I can still use my convertible top.

Sub is an Fi audio 10” XV3
Amp is JBL 1001
