Just had motor mounts replaced on 2012 A4 Avant at 63000 miles. Dealer mechanic claims they were torn. Cars runs better with turbo lag reduced and some vibration gone. Looked at new mounts online and very little rubber is exposed. So how does mechanic know they are torn? How long should they last?

They are visibly torn, they are hollow inside and tear quite often. Normally rips under the metal slug the bolt goes through

If you Google it you'll find pictures

Yes that makes the rubber hollow to be filled with fluid. It isn't a solid piece of rubber is my meaning, of course
